Draft at Brewvival 2012. Pours a very dark brown color with a thin brown head that quickly fades. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla. Tap at the brewery. Pours opaque black with a large, creamy tan head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is roast and chocolate malt with prunes, coffee notes, licorice and earthy hops. Flavor is dark malt dominant with light hops and bitterness, leather, light hops and medium bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a near black with an earthy brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a bit of coffee and bitter chocolate but is mainly dark grains and bread. The cocoa nibs are very smooth and well-balanced by roast and earthy notes.
