On tap at the brewery. Chestnut pour with minimal head. Spicy aroma with very apparent rye and a touch of malty sweetness. The flavor is every bit as spicy as the aroma lets on. A nice bit to this one. Plenty of rye (and as it turned out, this is almost 100% rye), spicy well matched hops and roasty note as well. Just a touch of sweetness to balance out the spice. Interesting does not quite cover it. Semi-dry light-medium body. A very interesting and enjoyable concept. I’d make on of these myself. (draft) Beige head atop clear copper body. Aroma is medium sweet, rye, caramel, orange/earthy, light peach. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, earthy, some rye, light grapefruit, peach. Medium body, low carbonation. dchmela (3090) - Orlando, Florida, USA - SEP 9, 2008
Sampled at the brewery. Pours a light brownish amber with a thin white head. Spicy rye and roasty grain aroma. Smooth slightly malty taste, nice body. Still retains some of the roasted grain elements and the rye, though not as hoppy as I thought it would be. The grains seem to be highlighted more, which is nice. Very refreshing.
