In true Zeppelin style, this beer has a big malty body, with a hop wonder that will shock the world. Carefully chosen yeast gives this beer both a clean lager smoothness and estery ale characteristics, all in one explosive package. IBU:37, SRM: 9.7, O.G.:14.8
Note: Märzen brewed with Kölsch yeast.

This was pretty good. Had this bottle in the bottom of the ole Beer Fridge, and though aged, it’s rather good! Sweet aroma from an amber colored brew with excellent carbonation. Laced head around the glass. Taste is hoppy with a nice malt. Good mouth feel. Nice bittering on the aftertaste. This is a good beer!

22 oz bottle served in a snifter. Pours a clear orange-amber with a short-lived, sudsy head. Only a little bit of spotty lacing is left on the glass. The aroma is simple but appealing: a soft, medium-roast malt. The taste is a bit richer. There’s a very nice blend of earthiness and spiciness from the light hops that mixes well with the solid M: crisp with a light dryness in the finish. Near-medium body. O: Not one of my favorite styles, but I found this version appealing and highly drinkable. Recommended for fans of Marzens. (from 2012 notes)

Bottle. Pours clear dark amber with a small, fizzy off-white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is toast, caramel, and nutty malt with dates and light earthy hops. Flavor is malt forward, light hops and bitterness, clean and a dry finish. Medium body and light carbonation.

Bomber--I know that Marzen is a low rated beer, but I like them and this is a fine one. Clean copper color with a small head. Malt is on the front in both the aroma and taste with a solid base of caramel. Brewery 4.00

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a moderately thick head. A little malty in the aroma, but there’s not a lot of smell coming off this one. Fairly malty in the taste, but not a terribly remarkable beer in any respect. Average Oktoberbest.

Shag (3045) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - AUG 29, 2012
Dark amber color with an off white head. Aroma contains some citrus and caramel. The flavor is somewhat bitter for an ofest but the usual dark fruit and caramel showing up. Overall the usual ofest deal but i strangely still seek them out.

Had on tap. Arrived a clear medium brown with a small head. Good lacing, though. Smelled quite citrusy with pineapple and grapefruit being noticeable. Flavor had touches of caramel malt with quite a bit of fruity esters. There was a tartness present as well. I saw that they brew this with a kolsch yeast which explains the fruityness. Not really my cup of tea.

22oz bottle split with Anndiesel. Filtered copper-orange. Steady off-white head. Doughy, fruity aroma..nice and fresh..despite it being the end of November. Classic German malt and noble hops. Really well done, true to style, but still a touch original. This is really World Class stuff, a great Ale, that still manages to have some really sublime malt and yeast tones.

Braudog (6833) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - OCT 9, 2011
Draft at the Bier Garden in Asheville. Bronze pour. Drinks with a malty base and sharp bite, very even keeled. Side by side with Duck Rabbit’s maerzen, this comes across more even. Good stuff. (#4326, 10/7/2011)
