Tap at the brewery - there are a lot of beerlovers in franconia who really hail this beer. so expectations were high - and not full met. a nice fresh and crisp Helles. Refreshing after a long bike-ride. but nothing special that would seperate it from other good brews in the area.

Draft at the brewery in Freudeneck. Clear gold with a fine white head. Aroma is way off, smelling of dirty dish rag and mold and vegetables and even of white vinegar, which makes me think it’s a problem with the lines, but we had this at dinner after a lot of mugs had been poured, and tap issues usually clean themselves out after the first few pours. A few days earlier I had a taste from my friend’s glass and it seemed to be in decent shape, certainly it was a different keg, was cleaner, light bodied, lightly sweet, minimally hoppy, bready and toasty, short finish, but drank well enough, though didn’t seem all that expressive or interesting. This time around we had a flawed keg or flawed batch, I don’t know which. But it was impossible to finish a glass given the dominant dirty dish rag note. So, score can range from okay (high 2s to low 3s) to awful (high 1s, low 2s).

On tap at the Brewpub. Klares goldgelbes Bier mit ordentlicher Schaumkrone. Geruch leicht malzig, getreidig. Geschmack würzig, malziig, getreidig, Kräuter.

On tap the brewery, 26/7/2013. Served in a Krug, but appeared to be a deep gold colour and had a big, billowy white head. Light carbonation left a prickle on the tongue. Floral, perfumed aroma with a hint of apricot fruit. Light bready malts, with a hint of earthiness leading to a slightly bitter finish. Enjoyable.

Draught at the brewpub. It’s golden with a creamy head, and the aroma is malty and slightly hoppy. The flavour is rather sweet with notes og malt, flower, light caramel and the finish is dry with notes of straw.

Clear light medium orange yellow color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, hay, toasted, fruity, light to moderate hoppy, light citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light light metalic. [20100404]

1.0 l bottle at PBF, 4.9 %. Golden color with quickly vanishing head. Honeyish aroma with herbal hops. Malty, bittersweet, honeyish and herbal flavor with hint of paper. Low carbonation, a bit flat.

Nice light golden color. White cap. Stony aroma with nice earth and minerals as well as farm manure. Nice quaffability. Good hop profile. Bright, herbal, fresh, and woody. Some paint thinner emerges late in the aroma but not nearly enough to be offensive and instead tastes like wood tannins. Tastes like a Franken kellerbier.
