Tasted this at the Troon Beer Festival in October 2007. Cask, gravity dispense. Clear dark ruby red in colour with a thin white head. Vinous, port like aroma which is strong in intensity. Robust yet smooth creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malt complex gives a sweet maltloaf base with rich roasted grain, roasted coffee, black plums, figs and treacle toffee. Spicy hops add a slight peppery note to the short bitter aftertaste. Malt returns to the smooth finish with rich plain chocolate, dry tiffin cake and walnuts. Slightly similair in style to Dent T’ Owd Tup. A superb English Strong Ale in style and long may they continue to thrive. MPA (999) - Amager (form. Nørrebro&Aalborg), DENMARK - JUL 31, 2011
Bottle (from the november 2005 RB-tasting at Dixens place - notes have been damaged by flooding of my basement, but this was such an insane tasting for me as I was new to such massive tastings, so I gave up on the detailed notes quite early). Eeeeew. Earthy and sour in the baddest way. Not good! All I wrote abouyt this... sm89walt (2073) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - APR 11, 2009
