Ok beer. Aroma is weak and so is mouth feel. There doesn’t seem to be the peppery bite most rye beers are defined by.

Tap at brewery. Pours a murky, hazy brown. Aroma is pale and toasted malts, faint rye, and light floral notes. Flavor is dry and moderately hopped with some light toast and spice with a grassy finish. Medium body. Guessing this was an off batch since the previous reviewers seemed to have a much clearer, better beer.

Draft at the brewery. Pours opaque murky brown with a fizzy off white head. Tastes like toasted malt, rye, grapefruit hops, and light pine. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like rye, toasted malt, and faint grapefruit.

Draft at the source. Clear ruby amber color, bright white edge head. Aroma of spiced Christmas fruitcake. Taste is very sweet spiced fruity brown bread. Interesting variation on a theme. Nice body.

Kind of a dull beer. Decent balance. A bit on the malty side. Not a bad beer, but not great.

decaturstevo (6244) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - OCT 2, 2014
Hazy orange pour with white head and lace. Aroma is rye malt with a touch of citrus. Really sweet malt start that fades to a good pleasant bitter finish. Medium bodied with good carbonation. nice beer

chandler0201 (650) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAY 27, 2014
Golden brown pour with large white head. Good malty aroma which gives a hint of classic British pale ales. Flavor was a bit on the sweet side but decently balanced with hops.

Suttree (6385) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - APR 28, 2014
Sampled at Hickory Hops 2014. Reddish brown, nice white head. Smells like caramel and just faint whiff of butter. No butter in the flavor, thankfully, just a nicely sweet caramel flavor and a crisp, dry pine finish.

3.3
BeerdedDave (1703) - Beckley, USA - JAN 20, 2014
mini growler; cloudy amber color; piney, grassy hops; medium-bodied, semi-sweet malt base; rye is not really apparent

maxwelldeux (4374) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - NOV 29, 2013
Draught. Pours a moderately clear amber color with very little head on it. Nose is pretty light, with only some faint whiffs of rye in there. Taste definitely has some rye and grains in there, and is actually slightly sour. Not all that great for me.

At topsail. For a rye beer this is top notch. Sometimes a rye has too much bite for me. This one is weak on rye which makes it better. Bought this to go with a cigar but think its too weak for the cigar. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
