22 oz. bottle. Pour is clear mahogany with a small ring of foam. Nose is mild toffee and lightly sour berry. Flavor is toffee with a touch of earthy candy corn and a sourish berry tinge. Earthy leaf and chocolate on the long finish is the best part of the beer. Medium body has low-medium carbonation and a nice balance. I think I caught this one before the infection took over completely and it turned out to be a decent, sourish wee heavy. hman43 (1720) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - OCT 24, 2015
It pours dirty brown with a head that does produce some lacing. It has a unique aroma compare to most in this class and other classes similar. It has a sweet syrup like aroma with elements of roasted malts. The roasted malts are the most dominant flavor with a hint of sweetness. It is a bit watery and has a slight bitter finish. freekyp (2363) - Thomasville, North Carolina, USA - AUG 25, 2015
Maybe a bad bottle? Infected? Pours a sludgy brown with no head. Smells like undercooked malt and tastes much the same. Very tart finish. Hops non-existent. Drain pour. HourGlass13 (984) - North Carolina, USA - AUG 22, 2015
A pathetic excuse for beer. Smells and tastes like a bad science experiment. Pours doo-doo brown with a tan head. Smells like a well used sweaty metallic lab instrument. Taste is a nasty sweet and sour taste with an aftertaste of metal as well. A very expensive drain pour. Just bad. Travlr (25500) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 24, 2014
Draft at the source. Muddy brown color, an ugly beer. Aroma of sweet caramel. Taste is sweet lightly spiced toast and butterscoth.

No hop character at all, but that’s ok for the style. A little bit of a butterscotch flavor. decaturstevo (6339) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - OCT 2, 2014
Lightly hazed brown pour with off white head and lace. Aroma is peatiness, a touch of caramel, and some floral hops. Flavor mirrors aroma without the peat and a light floral bitter finish. Medium body with good carbonation. solid jcwattsrugger (12507) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - MAR 13, 2014
on tap-tan head with trailing lace-mahogany. A-roast/molasses-med/dk malt, some dk fruit. T-chocolate/roast-med/dk malt, 2nd rye/spice hops with some bite. spusan (1) - North Carolina, USA - JAN 15, 2014 does not count
Sad to start my first beer review with such a low score, but wow was this beer disappointing. Had it at the Tyler’s in Durham and had to check that I wasn’t given the wrong beer! In the description it’s said to be "like a single malt scotch" with "peat smoked malt". I expected smokey, peaty, and scotch notes.
What I got was metallic smell, a sweet and sour taste (way too sweet especially if you’re expecting smokey & peaty), and an aftertaste of metal as well.
Not sure what happened, but not only did the beer not live up to its description, it was also just not good. What’s worse than disappointing? Bad. emacgee (4697) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - APR 30, 2013
Lightly cloudy rich dark brown with whispy tan head. Lots of diacetyl in the nose, some toasted malt and caramelly notes. Meh flavor. Light sweetness in the flavor, some green apple skins and diacetyl. kind of bottoms out.
