Aroma is coffee, dark malts and mild chocolate. The flavor is chocolate, dark malts, coffee and a sourish/acidic finish. ajnepple (7338) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - MAY 28, 2015
On tap at the brewery. Dark brown/black appearance with a tan head. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate, caramel, toffee and vanilla. Similar flavor, sweet and malty with minimal bitterness. Medium body with a soft carbonation, a creamy feel and a smooth finish. Similar to the vanilla porter, too sweet. bigcat03 (340) - Columbus, Nebraska, USA - NOV 8, 2014
On tap at FSB in Davenport. Pour is black as sin with a very small team head. A little coffee and malt to the nose. Initial taste of coffee, espresso, malt, dark chocolate. Aftertaste is much the same fading to a light bitterness. A medium body with good carbonation. Great beer! Only thing I would change is a fuller body. rondphoto (4508) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - JUN 17, 2014
on tap @ Front Street Brewery / Davenport IA --- Opaque black with a spotty head cover, torn sheets of lace. Taste is solid roasted malt that adds strong black coffee in the palate, with the coffee bittering bringing things into balance. Very straightforward, but a good brew to drink. Recommended.

On tap, poured into a 4 oz sampler glass. The aroma is a dry, flat coffee note with some chocolate cake and a light fig note. The opaque, dark black beer has hints of red-brown at its edges. The off-white head reduces down to a thin micro bubble ring and a smooth, clean surface. There’s no lace, the glass is left clean. The flavor is a medium bitter with a medium sweet. The chewy texture has a medium full body and a soft carbonation. It finishes with chocolate and espresso grounds. The espresso grounds take over in the aftertaste leaving a dry, bitter, gritty mouthfeel keepersj12 (3142) - Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA - MAR 26, 2014
Dark brown with a creamy head. The aroma is roast malt and caramel, a hint of chocolate. Thr flavor has the sweetness and roast malt. A little thin for a stout. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - JAN 24, 2013
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a black colored body with a thin, creamy brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is dark and milky chocolates with some roasts and earth. A touch of vanilla and bitter coffee. Flavor is similar. Balanced chocolate, coffee, and a moderate roast with a touch of vanilla at the end. Finishes clean, lightly bitter and earthy next to the coffee and roast, and balanced with a nice chocolate. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and light carbonation. Overall, a decent stout. Nothing special, but easy drinking and enjoyable. CanIHave4Beers (4236) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - JUL 10, 2012
Draught at the brew-pubBVery (11458) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - NOV 25, 2011
The beer pours basically black with a thin tan head that is pretty well retained and leaves not much lacing on the glass.
The aroma is nutty, with plenty of roast and dark chocolate. The aroma has a little bit of banana in there that isn’t totally out of place. The bouquet is mild, but what is there is very pleasant.
The flavor of the beer is roasty, perhaps a little too liberal with the roast, but the nuttiness and the dark chocolate step up to provide a little balance there. Again a little bit of banana in the flavor that just isn’t bad no matter how much I want to think it is. It’d certainly get docked for this in a BJCP contest, but the beer is tasty so I’m not really going to whine about it.
Tap at Front Street in Davenport on Nov. 25, 2011. Very dark pour with a minimal off white head. Aroma of roast and coffee. Thin palate. Taste is mild coffee and slightly sweet. Decent.
