Bottle 50cl. Clear crisp Kölsch with a little sourish, breadish aftertaste. Quenching and fresh.

DOK: ?

2015 BJCP Category: 5B Kölsch

AROMA: Light fruity notes, especially of white grape with slight pear or apple notes. Clean, grainy-malt but with no residual sweetness. No bready character. Noticeable sulfur character (acceptable for style). Low floral/spicy hops. Clean fermentation. 10/12

APPEARANCE: Beautiful golden hue (2-4 SRM); brilliant clarity; effervescent. Large white foam mostly dissipates but still laces some. 3/3

FLAVOR: Soft malt palette throughout. White grape flavor is noticeable up front with a constant peppery taste and dryness in the background which bites a little as it finishes. Slight sulfur character is noticeable, but not distracting (acceptable for the style). No bread or dough character. Clean fermentation. Clean aftertaste. 17/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body; medium-high carbonation. Smooth, crisp, refreshing, quaffable and sessionable at 4.8% ABV. 5/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Delectable, fun to drink, and a fantastic example of the style. Almost perfect. 9/10

Tough estery aroma (maybe little bit solvent-like) with notes of wet malt and grainy back. Clear pale golden in the glass medium head. Taste is really neutral – hard to say if it’s dry or sweet. Grainy, wet malty notes are still dominant with faint estery touch. Finish is minimal hoppy with earthy back. Average, looks better than it tastes.

Served on tap. Crystal clear golden colour. Thick long-lasting white foam. Slightly herbal and honey aroma. Malty and crispy flavour. The low bitterness sligtly restrains the sweetness. Medium body and medium-low carbonation. The 4.8% Abv is well masked. Easy to drink and enjoyable.
