Light, crisp and slightly fruity. Grain and malt. I’ve had this twice and both times it had a metallic tinge that ruined the beer.

My first traditional kolsch ever. xD Aroma: Grains, pale malts, some light bread. Appearance: Straw with a mediocre head. Taste: Thin, some sweetish malty base, very low bitterness. Palate: Semi-sweet finish, medium carbonation, low body.

330ml bottle from Systembolaget. Clear golden, small white head, some lacing. Not too much going on in the aroma, grainy, sweet malty and slightly metallic. Crisp and light mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Biscuits malty taste, grainy, sweet stone fruit and metallic. Short grassy finish with mild bitterness.

On tap. Pours a clear pale yellow with a medium, creamy, long lasting, white head that laces. Mild, sweet aroma of grainy malt. Sweet flavour of grainy malt, corn and grassy hops with a dry, bitter finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. An ok kolsch.

On tap at Bistro-Café-Goar, on the Rhine. Pours a clear, yellow color, with a big, fluffy, white head. The aroma is pine and resin, with some light floral notes, cereals, vanilla, and pepper. Dry, with a lot of hop bitterness. Light body, crisp, and sticky. This is an interesting, refreshing, and tasty beer.

Being brought up on Altbier it's hard to be objective on Kölsch. I tried hard and sampled many, but it never clicked for me. Früh is among the better.
