Only in December you receive this old beer speciality. More strongly in-brewed and more hopfiger than our regular alto is well-known it among beer friends, who meet in the morning 24 December to the traditional Weihnachsbier bar in our restaurant.

Courtesy of koelschtrinker, Secret Santa 2017. Danke schön Roman!.
BBD: 14-02-2018. Bottled: 14-12-2017.
In short: alt.
Did I enjoy it: why not?.
Pours quite clean amber with nice off whiet head. Moderate head retention, little lacing. Malty, caramel, toffee nose. Medium body, average carbonation, slick texture. Taste follows the nose. Straightforward.

500ml bottle - thanks, koelschtrinker! (6:4:6+:4:13=3.3+)
Aroma is rich and malty, with some minerals. Red-gold beer with a good head on it. Malty, bready, and sweet taste. Fairly dry palate with almost a feel of rye about the finish. Gets nicer as you drink it. Tastes as if it has some strength but not in an unsubtle way, it sneaks up on you

0,5l bottle at home from trade with Erzengel, big thanks. Bottled 09.11.2017. BB 09.01.2018. copper / brown clear color, medium big yellowish head. smells earthy, tobacco, spices, peppery, ripe fruits. ok smell. medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, grassy, tobacco, ripe fruits, peppery, musty. finishes lightly dry with notes of ripe fruits, tobacco and some earthy notes. okish but not the biggest fan, flavours dont work so well for me.

Brown with medium white head. Aroma is caramel malt, dried figs, a bit spiky, pfannkuchen. Taste is shallow malt with phenolic malt. Not so special. Medium drinkable. A bit boring. Ok.

(bottle) opalescent deep amber-ruby colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of green apple and peppermint, with a light touch of pale malts, some manure and old shanties. flavour is mostly grainy roasted malts and dark fruits, with some notes of earth and a light-bitter herbal-hoppy finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Piepenhenrich (1285) - Steinbach, GERMANY - AUG 29, 2017
Being one of the core old city Altbier brewers in Düsseldorf, Füchschen is famous for their excellent Alt. Their Weihnachtsbier is no less good, however, I would have wished it to deliver a more distinguished taste compared to the original. From bottle.

culchiem (4237) - Berlin, GERMANY - JAN 26, 2017
Bottle from Hopfen & Malz. Nutty brown with a full head. Aroma of cloudy malts. Flavour is grainy, malt, dry nutty caramel, lynam by dry bitter malt finish.
