Aroma: chocolate, Bordeaux-like earthy red wine note.
Flavor: rich medium dark chocolate, carbonation attacks and cuts through the initial chocolate flavor, milk chocolate shows up, then turns to bitter chocolate and coffee on the mid-palate. Very smooth milk chocolate finish.
Palate: very round and smooth. TimE (6067) - Tokyo, JAPAN - FEB 6, 2013
Cloudy brown color that looks like mud. Chocolate bananas in the nose. Smooth, full bodied chocolate and cloves in the mouth. A touch sour and a bit off balance, but fairly refreshing and enjoyable. KansaiBeerLvrs (5301) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JAN 24, 2013
On tap at Bakujun. Right off the bat I got an aroman of chocolate malt which was followed by a hint of a roasted chocolate flavor but quite mild not too sweet more like a really rich dark bitter chocolate. This was balanced by a white’s spiciness and very subtle banana flavors(I didn’t pick up on it till I read the other reviews and then I was like yeah that is what I was tasting). The colors a really dark brown with some reddish accents and it poured with a minimal head of foam which lingered. Quite nicely executed. A well balanced mix of a weizen and a chocolate beer, cool to try, maybe drink it with some vanilla ice cream... jonno (2878) - JAPAN - FEB 12, 2012
Soft weizen bock nose. Very soft body. A smidge of chocolate malt with an array of bananas in various slates of ripeness. Reasonably balanced and none too rich. Very easy drinking. rederic (3341) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 14, 2009
Sampled at the last Mondial, dark brown color, with a creamy beige head, chocolatey, fruity nose of dates, sultana raisins, with some roasted, toasted, faint whaety malty accents, with some hints of coffee in the aoma follws through on a medium-bodied palate with a toasted, chocolate, roasty, wheat malt nutty, yeasty fruity, spicy character of ripe apples and cinnamon with a light nutella, cookie dough, faint brownie flavour, leading towards a chocolatey, lingering roasty bitterness finish.

Bottle @ Mondial de la BièreDougShoemaker (3146) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 7, 2009
Appearance: dark brown , hazed copper-amber with medium beige head
Nose: sweet front with wheat and brown malts , fairly good chocolate hints as follow up. Hint of vanilla. 7+
Flavor/Palate : Mid lighter bodied. Sweet caramel with darker malts, light wheat hints. Finishing with some tobacco traces.11+/20
Bottle @ Mondial 2009.
Aroma of roast coffee, chocolate, but where’s the wheat? deep burgundy, small toffee head. Flavour is a milder chocolate and coffee than the nose, wheat is now present. Medium bodied, very well balanced, bitter and bold. Great stuff! MartinT (10037) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 6, 2009
My Bottom Line:buzzoven (376) - JAPAN - MAR 30, 2009
Vegetal notes mar bother the cocoa earthiness, making this already eclectic offering quite the strange one.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the dark brown.
-The body is well rounded and softly carbonated with big bubbles.
-Some roasted malts attempt to add complexity.
-This is my first Fukizakura deception. After reading other ratings, I suppose this bottle was not in the beer’s finest representation.
From the bottle at the Mondial de la Bière.
Poured a deep opaque black. Smelled strongly of clove and banana. Palate was perfect...very smooth and slightly creamy. Some chocolate in the finish. Had some kind of Weizen/Bock hybrid action going on. Interesting beer (also known as Black Wheat?) KyotoLefty (10603) - Kyoto, JAPAN - SEP 10, 2008
Draught at Best Beer Selection ’08, Osaka.
Opaque near-black with a tall off-white to tan head. Wheat malt aroma, with cocoa, some cloves, bananas. Rather strong sour note as well. Not overly sweet, strong flavors of wheat malt and chocolate, rather lightly spiced with lots of bananas. Bottle was a bit disappointing, but it was much better on tap, where the chocolate flavors really came through.
