Decent beer. Aroma was burnt malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Not very strong but pleasant. Pour was a beautiful deep dark black with a nice 2 finger dark brown head. Looked like a milk shake. Taste was very brash. Strong dark chocolate and bitter coffee grip the top of the mouth and never let go. Extremely bitter finish that is way too harsh and is borderline astringent. Light carbonation. As it warmed the astringent flavor comes out more and makes the mouth almost feel numb after the swallow.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2017 12oz bottle. Poured into keg shaped glass. Black beer with thick brown head. Lots of fruity hops sprinkling my nose. Dry black patent, a bit sandpaper like malts after that. Flavor has more of those hops and a mix of malt and hop bitterness. It's a lean body with ample carbonation. Finishes light with bitterness that is moderate but not offputting. The sandpaper dryness in aroma seems to not be in the flavor.

Opaque black. Weak malt nose, tan head. Bitter coffee start, bitter cardboard finish. Some creaminess despite the moderate carbonation. Needs more sweetness to balance the bitterness, but a decent beer.

I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours black with a tan head and lacing. The aroma is roasted coffee and hops. The taste is coffee, chocolate, and hops. This is a very hoppy stout. There’s very little chocolate taste. It’s heavy on bitter coffee and hops. It’s dry. This is different and good.

A very dry stout that pours quite foamy. Seems more like a black ipa. The bitterness is quite bizarre for the style. Just ok.

12 ounce bottle pour into tall tulip. Nice tan head and lacing. Good roasted nose, mouth feel a little weak for a stout, outstanding hop presence. First one I have had, definitely a great beer but to me drinks more like a black IPA than a traditional stout, regardless already looking forward to my next one!

Very hoppy stout. Very citrus hop and roasted malts scent. Touch of floral. Foamy head. Taste is bitter and hoppy with a burnt malt flavor. Mouth is full and sticks to the palate. Bottle.

Some roast and some caramel. Decent balance and drinkability. Black pour with decent head and lacing. Bitter crisp finish with some malt tang. Tap at smoking joes.

12 oz bottle from Wegmans poured into tulip glass. This may have been intended to be a stout but it comes off as a black IPA, from the amount of hopping. Opaque with a thick tan head, full bodied. Aroma of roasted grain with some hops, coffee taste with grapefruit. Lingering bitter finish, not the malty finish of a stout.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a black color with a thick dark tan head that lasts. Nice citrus hop aroma unexpected for a stout and some roastedness in the background. Medium-full bodied, interesting for a stout with such a hop flavor. Lots of carbonation on the tongue. Some roasted malt and chocolate come through as it warms. Finish is smooth. Pretty good.

Bottle. Black, smallish tan head. Nose is rich roast malt, light burnt notes, mild hop aroma, low to medium sweetness. Flavor is roast, deep caramel, milky sweetness, some almost acrid malt. Lingering bittersweet finish.
