The aroma delivers on the promise of coffee, as does the flavor. Coffee dominates, but there is a caramel sweetness behind it. Very complex thanks to the blend of malts. Ends dry and bitter, but more of a coffee bitterness than one from hops. Light and smooth body, if a bit watery.
Very nice coffee porter. samsmith33 (772) - - AUG 29, 2015
Bottle to goblet. Aroma is strong coffee, roasted malt. Taste is the same. Very good. Dark black color, with a thick thick thick tan head. Medium carbonation. Nice beer. Cool bottle. DocLock (10683) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 13, 2011
Glad to be the statistics clarifier for this, my cherry popper from Full Pint. Pours turbid deep brownish black with 1-finger tan head. Nose is Alpha Klausy; rich choc malt, cacao, big piney hops. Tastes extremely piney and resiny hoppy, with roasty choc malt, coffee, a rich palate, some Bells java notes, and a super hoppy finish. The hops overtake the coffee here, and it finishes astringent, but this one isn’t too shabby. FROTHINGSLOSH (7796) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 22, 2011
UPDATED: JAN 10, 2012 Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub this beer poured thick and black with a large brown head that lingered. The aroma was sweet and malty with moderate notes of cocoa and coffee. The flavor was sweet cocoa, vanilla and coffee with a toasty and roasty malt undertone. The finish was long and toasty with lingering cocoa and coffee. Fairly full bodied and smooth. Well done. douglas88 (9174) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 13, 2012
12 ounce bottle. Pours a deep black color with a medium grey head. A smooth roast and coffee nose. The flavor is good: dark fruit, coffee, roast, some ash. Very clean. Nice.

Lovely and strong coffee taste and smell. Chocolate notes. Slightly heavy compared to more popular porters today. Nate (4279) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 13, 2011
From growler, courtesy of TJ. Rich roasted malt sweetness with light coffee notes, light hops, and caramel. Dark black with foamy light tan head. Medium heavy body with medium carbonation. Smooth coffee taste with rich toffee and molasses, caramel malt and roasted barley notes. Nice bitterness, with smooth coffee sweet (cafe au lait) after. Not sure the low score on this one. Aroma is cocoa, coffee, roasted malts. Medium, carbonated body. Flavor has plenty of coffee, cocoa, light malts, and a healthy dose of citrus hops. Fun. boto (2210) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - FEB 25, 2012
12 oz bottle: This one pours a fairly opaque darker brown color. There was a small tan head that didn’t linger long or leave much in the way of lacing. The aroma is good. Coffee and chocolate malt are predominate. Some hops are in there too, but they are hard to determine exactly what they are. The taste is very good. Fair amount of the coffee on to, with some chocolate malts in the background. Dryness to the finish. Lots of hops being hidden back there. Nice. Definitely helps to be a coffee lover for this one! Bottle. This black beer shows a bright red sheen when held to the light. The head quickly settles into a small tuft, nothing more. The aroma hints at sweet, milk chocolate. But the beer drinks with a bit more of a java base, with a sweet yet stark finish. (#4986, 4/15/2013)
