Sampled 9/18/2008. This dopplebock pours a dark brown color from a 22oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head, with nice retention. The aroma is caramel, dark fruit and some chocolate. A medium bodied dopplebock. The malts are caramel and chocolaty. The hops are earthy and a touch floral. Nice balance. Not as sweet as most dopplebock, more of a semi-sweet to bitter chocolate flavors. Nice balance. Decent carbonation. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. glkaiser (1214) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 14, 2008
2008 "001" bottle. Thanks, Sandra! Beautiful dark copper brown with medium head. Nice roasted malt and some caramel. Nutty, slightly sweet towards the finish with ample hops to balance without taking over. Drinks smoothly, but the alcohol comes through and gives it a nice edge. ditmier (1508) - Boise, Idaho, USA - SEP 10, 2008
2008 Bottle (Obviously) - Pours a transparent lt brown with a small off white head...aroma is malt and cinnamon??...flavour is quite nice, subdued spice, balanced malt, light bitterness and a pleasant alcohol presence...one of the better ones from a brewery that doesn’t push too many boundaries.. robforbes (2246) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - SEP 7, 2008
