3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From 22oz. bottle. Deep copper in color with an almost molasses taste to it. Overall pleasing beer.
22oz bottle. Poured a deeper amber color with an off white head. Caramel, some earth, toasted nuts, and some biscuit. JohnGalt1 (1721) - Boise, Idaho, USA - AUG 29, 2016
Decent enough light tan head... The brew is a clear polished deep orange... very pretty. bu11zeye (13239) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - MAR 2, 2016
Nose is clean malt... little else... maybe some spicy hoppiness.. toasty malts... light caramel.. honey... a bit of a peppery hoppiness jumps out.
Too bitter for a doppelbock, but it is a "PNW" brew :-) nice smooth malt profile.. toasty ... biscuity... nicely done with the malts... It seems like the hops though were given a heavy hand.... still Continental in style, but heavy. Never sweet, just malty.
Body is about perfect for the style.
(22oz bottle) Pours a clear copper body with a small white head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, toasted grain, orange, and grass. Flavor of bread, caramel, nuts, and toasted grain with a dry, bitter finish. Darkmagus82 (2303) - - DEC 5, 2015

Appearance – The beer pours a hazy orange color with a tiny white head. The head fades very fast leaving just a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strong of a tangerine and orange aroma with a decent showing of a yeasty smell as well as a moderately strong showing of some caramel and grain. Along with these aromas comes some lighter hints of bread and a little bit of lemon.
Taste –The taste begins with a rather strong showing of a bready taste mixed with some sweetness of a citrus fruit and caramel nature. Along with these tastes comes some flavors of a yeastiness as well as a little bit of a more boozy taste. Toward the end, the sweet increases even more with some grassy and more grainy tastes coming to the tongue, leaving one with a rather sweet and slightly boozy fruit and grain taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average to thin for a doppelbock of 9 % abv., with a carbonation level that is low. The feel is OK overall, but a little thicker body may have been nice for the big abv. of the brew and a little more carbonation may have helped in accentuating the fruit flavors of the brew. Overall however the feel was decent.
Overall – A rather tasty brew overall. Nice blend of fruit, wheat, grain and booze. A quite tasty, yet drinkable brew at 9% abv.
Citrusy, hazy, slightly sweet. Not bad. Not the expected Dopplebock flavor. More hoppy flavor.

Pours a dark golden copper color with apricot colored edges and a one finger white foam head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Streaks of spotty lacing left behind. Nekronos (4175) - Xalapa, MEXICO - FEB 7, 2015
Slightly toasted sweet malt aroma with a delicate floral hop presence for balance. Hints of caramel, toffee, rye and biscuit countered by a grassy hop character and subtle dark fruit notes.
On the fuller end of medium bodied with a surprisingly hop forward flavor that’s countered by sweet malt, bready yeast and dark fruit. Floral, grassy hops provide some dry bitterness that lingers but this is nicely countered by caramel malt, biscuit, toffee, hazelnut and toast. Well balanced with a well masked high ABV, making this beer very easy to drink. Pretty flavorful but a bit too hoppy for this style in my opinion.
Quite nice although it does not say anything about the 25th anniversary but of a Recipe #4. Nice aroma and creamy features and taste. hotstuff (5273) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JAN 7, 2015
Rated on 4-13-2013 (Bottle) This beer’s appearance is a small smooth off-white head that is mostly lasting, orange transparent body, very fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, bready, some toffee, pine hops, and earthy. The flavor is lightly bitter, pine hops, toffee, bready, and caramel malt. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. A quaffable beer with a lingering bitter aftertaste. It is a sipping beer. A Dopplebock? Really? Hmmm. rondphoto (4494) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - AUG 11, 2014
bott;e @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Hazy dark caramel amber, head that drops to the rim, light streaks of lace. Nice aroma of caramel and malt. Taste is malt that adds sweet caramel and bread in the palate, then turns to alcohol, with even a hint of bourbon in the end. The lingering finish shows the caramel hasn’t left yet. timjbaer (24) - pahrump, Nevada, USA - MAR 27, 2014
Dark copper color with a nice toast smell and malty notes. White foam with nice lacing and fair retention. Light carbonation and smooth mouth feel. Tastes of baked crackers and light bitterness in the back. The bitterness sits in the after taste for about 3 to 4 minutes and on the toung for longer. Some hopps balanced by sweetness.
