very nice and unusually dark coloured "amber" beer..this almost looks like a brown ale.
Lovelly rich chocolate malt taste with some wondeful hopping.
A most excellent session brew indeed. DrunkAsASkunk (847) - Lynnwood, Washington, USA - APR 29, 2003
I really hate to pidgeonhole a beer, but this is about the most average amber ale as there could possibly be..a pure pure session ale. The aroma is fruity with cherries, and frivolous with caramel and chocolate malts. It pours a deep magenta color with absolutely no head...well ok..it was a thin film that lasted a few seconds. The taste is definitely malty and chocolately. Some sweet chocolate and caramel malts here with a tiny hint of fruity, dry ending. Overall it has a fairly active carbonation level for an amber ale but is still very pleasant. Nice fruits and chocolate melds, but just nothing stands out aside from the fact that i could drink a 6 pack of these for fun and enjoy it. JK (6146) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - APR 22, 2003
On tap. Dark red with a brown head. A little sour in the aroma with some herbal scents. Flavor of fruit; reminded me of an IPA. jstu9 (402) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 8, 2003
(bottle) I'm rating this 2.9 though I think I could call this a definition of a 3.0 beer. It's better than average, nice to drink, but... its just that. It's above average, fine to drink. Nothing special. jjw2000 (72) - USA - MAR 28, 2003
UPDATED: APR 22, 2003 Smooth and sweet amber ale with medium-heavy body. Also drinkable in fair quantity.

Nice amber ale, very malty and sweet, cloying. Thick and rich, nice bitter hops but not too strong. A little on the heavy side for an amber ale, but a wonderful brew nonetheless. dberger624 (1028) - Voorhees, New Jersey, USA - MAR 20, 2003
Thanks to Gregory for this one. Found this to be a typical West coast beer. Nice solid mix of malt and west coast hops. Good solid beer. hoorayforbeer (105) - Denton, Texas, USA - MAR 11, 2003
Pours very deep amber with creamy off-white head. Smells of malt, some caramel, and cascades. Nice nutty malt with a noticeable amount of cascade flavor in the finish. Very malty without being too sweet, and the hop balance is done quite nicely. schm1005 (151) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 25, 2003
Deep amber red color with a long lasting medium sized head and a transparent hue. The flavor is sweet and slightly nutty. The maltiness is appropriate for a solid amber ale with a nice balance of hops on the finish. It has medium carbonation and a full body. A nice amber easy to appreciate a few at a time. harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JAN 21, 2003
This was a very sweet yummy beer. Deep amber coloring in the pour, with a great aroma and frothy head. I would have liked it a little more bitter, slightly imbalanced, but overall great to drink.
