I don’t think this beer is really "Black Gold", but ratebeer assures me this is the same thing even though it has a different label. 2014 bottle. Pours jet black with a small tan head. Milky chocolate on the nose, a nice nutty note there, light coffee, caramel and a hint of bourbon.Taste is kind of light and watery unfortunately, milky chocolate, caramel, vanilla, roasty coffee, some light oak and bourbon, and a wierd nutty taste. A little disappointed here, this is like barrel aged stout lite.
2009 version. Big nose and still well carbonated. Black pour. Nose is toasty and alcohol. Thick and chewy. maley1 (1301) - Calgary, CANADA - AUG 7, 2017
Dark brown pour with small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, vanilla and bourbon. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, coconut, vanilla and slight bourbon notes. Full bodied, medium carbonation, slightly bitter hop finish. fiery1 (1817) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 26, 2017
Draught @ the brewery. Pours black with a thin tan head. Nose is light roasted malt. Flavour is toasty with a boozy bourbon character but overall light and thin bodied. AirForceHops (8034) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - APR 1, 2017
22 oz. bottle from a trade. 2016 vintage. Black in color with full brown head with lace. Aroma is mild roast, moderate bourbon, and light coconut nuance. vandc01 (456) - North Branch, USA - DEC 17, 2016
Flavor is vanilla, coconut nuance, oak, and a bold lasting bourbon throughout the sip. Mild warming after the sip. Body lean’s on the lighter side for the style but the flavor is nice. Barrel aged without any adjuncts... Soild
Poured from a 22oz bottle at home.
Great bourbon aroma and nice mouthfeel.

Hits you with an immediate chocolate front, then rolls into a chocolate-cherry middle. A bit thin, next the bourbon hits, and then that’s all you get. Wild Turkey. Wild Turkey everywhere. Burning, mediocre Wild Turkey. Not that this overreliance on bourbon is bad, just a bit one-note. Hides the stout’s weakness. Pretty good but overrated. 2012 vintage on draft at Falling Rock. GABF week 2016. Standard motor oil body. Excellent creamy beige head. Caramel, cocoa, sea salt and sweet tarts on the nose. Sweet chocolates, spicy black pepper, and floral coffees swirl together and clean up with a peppery and woody aftertaste, not unlike KBS. Very thin bodied, though, almost watery. That is fine because it is full of flavor and not filling. Excellent stuff if it reminds me of KBS. MadRobin (2989) - Silver Spring, Maryland, USA - APR 9, 2016
Poured from 750ml bottle.
Opaque, brown-black with a light brown head and good lacing.
Aroma of cocoa, vanilla, dark fruit, chocolate sauce, bourbon and oak.
Taste of chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, dried black mission figs, oak, dark malt and butter.
Medium/full body and medium carbonation.

Pours an opaque dark brown almost black like oil with khaki colored head. Bourbon, woody oak, some sweet vanilla and chocolate on the nose; follows onto the palate. Full bodied. Finishes with bourbon and sweetness. Andrew196 (2040) - Katy, Texas, USA - DEC 4, 2015
Amazing. Jet black with mahogany edges, thin beige head. Aroma was cocoa, chocolate liqueur, bourbon. Super toasty and sweet, not as boozy as I expected and super balanced. Dry finish. Very well done guys.
