Black with good head. I love stouts and this was a good stout so I loved it. Would like to have one again if it was given to me free like this one was. 19Ei8hty (1166) - Washington, USA - FEB 18, 2010
RIch and dark burnt malt backbone. Deep chocolate with strong wooded highlights. Some deep roasted coffee beans, somewhat vanilla and mossy. Grassy hops with slight citrus presence. Really well done. TheRealMGD (555) - Lakewood, Washington, USA - DEC 15, 2011
Tap @ Parkway. Deep red-black pour with a short tan head leaving heavy lace. Nose is chocolate, licorice and booze. Heavy body and medium carbonation, with an oily mouth feel - particularly near the finish. Baking chocolate, cherry, licorice, vanilla and caramel. Finish is sweet and chocolatey with a touch of coffee late. A bit sweet for me, but really smooth and lovely - one of the better barrel-aged Imperial Stouts.

Pours black with a thick tan head. Aroma is licorice, oak-vanilla, and a slight alcohol bite. Taste is molasses, roasted malts, oak, and bitter chocolate - in that order. The finish kinda falls off. Not bad. SHIG (4962) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - FEB 15, 2016
Bottle thanks to my good friend duckfan’s cellar: Poured a black with a tan head. Very strong alcohol, molasses, malt aroma. Taste is sweet malt boozy, sugary, strong alcohol. zathrus13 (1776) - Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA - OCT 13, 2006
Bottle, 2005. Dark brown, black, with a light brown head. Aromas are roasted malt, dark fruit, chocolate, and caramel. Flavors are roasted malt, dark fruit, chocolate, and coffee. Body is a bit thin.
More body and a little less bitterness, and this would be amazing. skoisirius (1909) - Earth, Washington, USA - OCT 2, 2009
2004 bottle drank in 2005. Definitely has been one of FS’s stronger points. Pours straight black with tiny tanned hints and a dark tan head. Mediumly thick aromas of sweet burnt malts, coffee, and roast. Notes of much of the same in the flavors, with hints of dark chocolate and roasted coffee. A standard in Impy Stouts, not mind blowing, but damn good, especially when it was first being brewed. crossovert (12934) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 21, 2011
Today me and my friend did a side by side of this an BCS.
Pours pitch black with hints of brownish reddish edges. Has a pretty active caramel colored head that rises to the top of my Duvel glass.
Has a good bourbon oak scent, not as intese as the BCS but good nonetheless. There are also hints of molasses and vanilla.
The mouthfeel isn’t as thick as others but the flavors are the standard, nice oak and bourbon flavors mix with layers of malt and chocolate bitterness. I have a cut on my lip and it is burning from this alcohol, though the alcohol doesn’t make a huge presence in the flavor.
This is a great ass barrel aged stout, may not be the pinnacle of the style but it is worthy if you can get ahold of it.
