SDbruboy (1864) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 17, 2005
Bomber bottle. Pours dark brown with reddish highlights when held to light and a nice tannish head. Aroma features lots of roasty malts, espresso, bitter chocolate, sour milk and floral hops. Flavor is all of the above from the aroma, with a little charcoal roastiness and a somewhat overpowering floral aftertaste. Medium to full body and cream carbonaton. This doesn’t compare to the best of the class, but it’s not bad.

Bottle. Deep dark dark brown pour with dark ruby hints. Sweet roasty aroma, some sweet caramel malts, and some candied darker fruits. Initial sweet caramel flavors, with more roasty malt flavors coming through in the middle, and a decent bitter finish. Some smoke and a fair bit of ashy bitter coffee, as well as some definite notes of raisins.

Pours dark brown with a little head typical of most stouts. Sweet and malty. Pretty strong with flavors of caramel.

RBSG DC 2006: Clear black-brown (when held to a bright light), medium tan head. The aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, fruity hops, and light licorice. Taste is an almost sour-like chocolate, licorice, spice, sweet sugar cane, and earth.

Draught. Black pour with off white head. Full roasty aroma, chocolate and malt. Full bodied, licorice, chocolate roast nuts. Long finish witha hop note.

Dark black with a tan and solid creamy head. Stringy lacing. It’s a good looking beer. Aroma is full of roast and hops. Bitter coffee and a touch vinous. There is almost a hint of ginger about. Chocolate. The flavor is bitter hops and coffee. There is roast malts and a bit of astrigency There is a hint of fruits. The palate is tingly with a bitter tail of mocha and espresso.

Poured a very dark brown color with a thin tan head. Sweet roasted malt aroma with notes of grape candy and light alcohol. Flavor is roastey and smokey. Big bitter backbone runs from mid flavor through the long finish.

A black apperance with a tan head. A big ol chocolate and coffe aroma on this one. The flavor caught me off guard. I get alot of marshmellows in this one. Along with chocolate, coffee, and some smokiness. The finish is slightly bitter. Nothing great but a pretty good stout.

Headbanger (3999) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - AUG 6, 2009
22oz bottle (’05 Reserve)-Poured a pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, sweetness, and some vanilla. Taste of the same with a bit of smokiness coming through. This full bodied brew kicks butt.

5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - APR 29, 2005
Bottle Black coffee, brown edges, large foamy beige head, enjoyable lacing.   Burnt malts, subtle chocolate - bittersweet, with a hint of alcohol.   Plum/fig/date like start, followed by heavily roasted malts and a dash of cocoa and apple skin.   Decent body, but the mouthfeel seems less than mediocre.   Picks up coffee at the finish.   Decent, just not thick enough.   Thanks Brian M!
