Bottle. Pours a very hazy dark amber with a moderate head. Malty and surprisingly hoppy in the nose. An odd malty bitterness to the taste that’s awfully heavy. videofrog (57) - Austin, Texas, USA - SEP 28, 2012
From notes, 7/31/12:
Poured from a 22oz bomber into a dimpled stein. There’s a space for "Enjoy By", but nothing stamped in the space.
A: Deep reddish-copper color, off-white, 2 finger head. Minimal lacing down the glass. Edges are burnt orange when held up to the light.
S: Caramel and bready malts up front, fresh lager-like aroma, noble hops.
T: Balance tilts toward the bready and caramel malts, bitter hops come out more here. Slight nuttiness in the finish.
M: Clean and crisp like a lager, but I found it to be on the thin and watery side.
O: A solid Alt and worth the relatively low price tag. Easy-drinking and great for a weeknight. BeerZack (288) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - SEP 16, 2012
Not the type of balance I was expecting or looking forward to. There is a biting metallic bitterness that prevails throughout. Sledutah (7530) - Utah, USA - SEP 13, 2012
22oz bottle picked up at the state store mmmbeer (1425) - Austin, Texas, USA - SEP 9, 2012
Appearance: Pours clear dark amber/brown with a big frothy beige head and good lacing
Aroma: Toasted malts, sweet caramel and earthy
Taste: Toasted malts, caramel, grainy with a nice mild bitter finish
Nice and tasty.
22 oz. bottle served in shaker- poured a transparent light brown with maybe a shade of amber, sat very still in the glass. White ring for a head with tiny whisps of the same color, aroma of toasted wheat and a hint of rye. Hits the mouth with an even medium body, malt was fairly and nicely toasted, some hearty firmness in the middle, finish is slightly bittering and makes me want to add some Everclear to speed up the process... but in due time...

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2014 This beer is very very mild but it is quite good. Toasty and grainy. Not your run of the mill beer. Tmoney99 (14460) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 8, 2012
Bottle. Poured clear dark copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted caramel malt and floral hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted balanced flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.

Aroma of sweet malt. This a beautiful pour. A clear cranberry copper color with a mostly diminishing ivory head and some lacing. On the bitter side but combined with a wonderful rich biscuit taste and the biscuit flavor continues through the aftertaste. Medium bodied and medium carbonation. Overall, I liked this beer! The rich biscuity taste grabs your attention as well as your taste buds.

Bottle to snifter (thanks tmoney99). Looks decent; a transparent brown with thin white lacing. Smells weird; not good, not bad; just weird. Some sweetness and hoppiness in there. Tastes like it smells, but milder (for better or for worse; I’m not sure which). A little thin for my liking, especially for what it smells like. Average (at best) on the palate. Meh.
