From a bottle poured an amber color with a good amount of head. Light malty flavor with a toasty finish. rdixon77 (3037) - Georgia, USA - APR 14, 2012
Copper color pour. Smell is mostly malts. Flavors to follow...malty with a touch of some mild hops. "Nourishing tasting and bitter" says my wife. Hardy beer that is sessionable. Very clean tasting. My first alt, so not much to compare it to. Good brew, nothing special. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - MAR 30, 2012
22oz bottle. Rating #4. Clear dark amber pour with a dirty white. Off aromas a little funky, strange. Picking up a little butter in the flavor. Not good, it must of been a bad bottle, to bad. (2282) gripweed57 (2871) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - JUN 14, 2013
22 ounce bottle. Dark reddish brown color topped by a big fluffy beige head. Tasty toasted malt aroma has notes of toasted walnuts and burnt sugar. Toasted malt flavor has a spicy complex hop balance that makes for a nice smooth character. Medium bodied with dryish notes. A nutty spicy hop finish makes this a pleasant interpretation of a classic German style. beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - OCT 9, 2008
On tap at the brewery. Pours darker amber with a smooth off-white head. Toasty malt nose, soft hops creep in there. Flavor is smooth and toasty up front, a touch grainy, but a nice flavor overall. The hops give balance and a soft earthy note to the finish. Overall I thought this was a delicious alt.

Looks great. Big foamy head like in the beer halls in Düsseldorf. Clear light brown color. Light toasted malt. A little to sweet and to bitter in the end compared to a tie alt but very good. Reminds me of Im Fuchsen in bitterness. Nice! savnac (2656) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - MAY 21, 2012
22 oz bottle. Clear amber with a small thick beige head. Aroma of caramel, bread dough and herbal hops. Flavor is bready/toasty malt, medium hop bitterness and some sweet caramel. Medium body with average carbonation and a smooth mouth feel. Very good beer for the style. poisoneddwarf (2647) - Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, USA - MAY 31, 2012
Bomber bought at Super 1 in CDA, ID. Aroma consists of dough, caramel, spices (cinnamon?). Pours clear copper with a medium beige head that collapses after a couple minutes, leaving a blanket of foam; leaves cobwebby lacework. Taste starts out sweet and a little tart before becoming pretty bitter. Mouthfeel is creamy, body medium, carbonation soft. Pretty tasty--it exceeded my expectations. 22 oz bomber from "Lifesource" Salem. $4.79
Nice deep amber/brown body with a slight haze, and a thick creamy quarter inch eggshell white head atop.
Malty,bready,nutty slightly toasted aromas.
All of the above inn the taste..plus a semi bitter after taste that works well.
Nice rounded mouthfeel .
Good drinkable beer. Fatehunter (2615) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - MAY 9, 2013
Poured a finger of head on a dark amber colored body. Looks great.
It smells old (it is an altbier after all). Seriously, it has a good barnyard/hay and earth smell to it.
It’s fairly complex for an alt with some mild maltiness to start, then some hop spice and finishes with a bit of burnt wood.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
I haven’t tasted many, but this is the best altbier I’ve had.
