Pours a dark golden amber/copper color with mahogany edges and a two finger off-white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
Slightly smokey, roasted malt aroma with peppery spice, earthy hops and bready yeast. More robust than what’s typical for the style. Hints of pepper and clove followed by banana, bread, chocolate, caramel and toffee but there’s also a burnt dark malt presence as well as a resinous hop presence. These extra elements are interesting but overpower what I like most about the style.
Medium bodied with a flavor profile that’s very similar to the aroma. The roast character is toned down a bit but it’s still slightly smokey and more dry/acrid than I expected. Hints of dark chocolate, oatmeal and dry, burnt toast followed by hints of peppery clove, banana bread, caramel and toffee. The ABV is well masked and its easy to drink, but I just wish thre was some more sweetness for balance. Refrigerated bottle, best by February 2014, poured into a weizen glass. Pours clear copper with half inch dense beige head. Aroma is caramel malt, medium body medium carbonation, and pretty good big bubble lacing. Taste is big malty caramel malt, hints of yeast, some bread, and hints of vanilla in the finish. 22 oz. bottle, consumed on 5-8-14. Simple, tangy, musty aroma features scents of caramel and apple juice. Pours a clear amber with a small amount of beige head. Simple, tangy flavor features toffee and a touch of vanilla in the finish. Dry aftertaste. Light to medium body. Lively in the palate. Easy to drink. Pleasant but simple, unsophisticated, and forgettable overall. Boring beer for which I was unable to create extensive notes because it was so uninspiring.

Bottle from Sugaya, shared at the Dig Bar American Craft Event. Slightly past date. Served in a tulip. A nice malty caramel somewhat yeasty aroma. The beer has a medium bodied with a spritzy mouthfeel. The taste is caramel, toffee, yeast, mild spices think some kind of spicy bready cake. Pretty good.

Palate:Medium light body,lingering aftertaste.
Summary: I realized while enjoying this beer that the bottle had an enjoy by date from March, even though I purchased it more recently. Still, tasted pretty solid to me.
