Not much nose. Some nice hops, some emptiness, some poop. Flavor is very nice and smooth, with a great hop presence and a nice malt backbone. Nothing incredible here, but it’s easy to drink and pretty tasty.

pours a clear red-orange with a large off-white head, and some lacing. smell of light grapefruit, dry leaves, and some citrus. taste has lots of hops, pine, earth, caramel, and some sweetness in the back, end is very bitter.

22oz bottle from the Utah State Wine Store. Pours a bright amber color with a medium white head. The aroma is pretty subdued; light caramel and hops. The flavor was quite nice; a huge grapefruit and orange peel flavors, lots of bitterness, quite hoppy. I’m not sure why, but others seem to regard this as a pretty bland beer, but this bottle was full of fresh citrus hops and pretty bitter. Nice.

Bomber courtesy of Secret Santa Summer ’09. Amora of medium, sweet malt and light citrus. Flavor was just the same. Copper body with off-white head. Rather bland for an IPA. Didn’t have the normal refreshment an IPA usually has. Thanks, Buckeye Boy, for the opportunity to try this beer.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (grass, resin, herbs), lightly yeasty (dough), with light notes of black tea and sulfur. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic, lightly to moderately astringent. Remarkably generic and plain, and not really very hoppy. Watery and fairly astringent. To be honest, I’m very curious what they were going for here, as it has very little notable character to offer in any way.

On tap at the taproom at Harborside McCormimck and Schmick’s in Portland. 6/26/09. Pours solid copper with okay head. Great citrus aroma, which lead to a nice bitterness. A bit too lively on the tongue.

(Bottle) Pours a murky, dark copper color. Head is medium sized, off-white and a bit frothy - good lacing. Light citrus hop aroma. Bitter hop flavor with hints of grapefruit. Slick texture, long duration, moderate carbonation. Bitter finish was strong - too much for my liking. Seems unbalanced.

troopie (2497) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - JUL 26, 2009
Bomber. Poured red orante with medium fast dissipating white head. Hoppy citrusy aroma. Flavour is rather sweet for an IPA at first, then the bitterness of the hops kicks in. Very hoppy lasting finish.

JahNoth (1039) - Rochester, New York, USA - JUL 24, 2009
Malty, candy hop aroma is very inviting. Almost amber in color with little head. Limey cactushops assault the palette with unabashed aggression. There is some munich maltiness and some sweetness, but the bitterness is the show here. It is succulent. Very dry and bitter at the finish. I like it alot.

carruthm (1400) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 24, 2009
on tap at college inn. Big time hoppy taste, a rather astringent bitter finish. Aroma was clear hops. Color was lighting amber orange.
