A solid pour into my New Belgium globe glass produces an almost three finger thick, lightly amber tinged head. The beer is an amber color and shows an almost clear, amber tinged, rich copper hue when held up to the light. At first the beer smells balanced between crystal malt aromatics and American hops, but the hop character soon wins out with notes of Meyer lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, brown sugar crusted candied orange zest and a touch of an herbal edge. The malt still comes through with a touch of sweet-tea flavors and a biscuit like note in the finish.
The beer tastes quite a bit more herbal than the nose suggested. There is also a firm bitterness that gets a bit green with hops towards the finish. Somewhat dry tasting, but there is a crystal malt backed sweetness here that provides a touch of caramel character. There are some light citrus notes of grapefruit that are noticeable before the dominant herbal flavors and bitterness take hold.
This is definitely a fairly bitter beer, and I like that is remains fairly light and drinkable. A bit more floral and fruity hop notes would be nice, but this isn’t as fresh as it should be either. A good IPA, that I should work to get in a fresher state.
Bottle... Poured amber with a white head, nice lacing. Strong hops on the nose with a pine and citrus sweetness as well. Crisp, foamy, well carbonated palate. Well balanced and a nice hop bitterness with a wood-like malt character. Really straight forward but well made. BillKismet (4177) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 15, 2009
Rich amber with solid head. Mostly floral hoppiness with some citrus bite in aroma and flavor. IBU’s and bitterness are quite in the face--or on the palate that is. Emphatic bitter-sour finish. dnstone (4085) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - DEC 7, 2009
Dry, hoppy aroma. Clearish golden/amber color. Light IPA with a solid finish. jake65 (4034) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - AUG 7, 2009
Bottle: Hazy copper pour with a finger of creamy beige head. Lots of sticky, weblike lacing. Aroma is sweet enough, a bit malty and citrusy with a subtle amount of florals. The florals come through much stronger in the taste, but not intense by any means. Somewhat dry and unfinished. Still ok, but I had much higher hopes for this...

22oz bottles. pours a hazy orange with white head. an aroma that is piney and metallic - sorta chemically but a very mild aroma. flavors has a mild piney and grassy bitterness being met with a doughy malt background. sort of your run of the mill ipa and not a very good one. Pours a velvety smooth amber with a faint floral hops nose. Flavor is sour strawberry pine hops in a floral grapefruit salad. Average mouthfeel. Too floral to enjoy more than one at a time.

bronze-y amber pour with a slight haze. it’s capped by a soft foamy light tan head and clingy spots of lace.
sweet malty nose yet dry, spicy and almost husky... along with caramel, earthiness, a touch of pine and some grapefruit.
initial blast of toffee-like malty sweetness is helped out by dry and bitter hoppy goodness... spicy, earthiness, citrus and just a touch of sweet pine.
medium bodied, prickly and crisp. 7/4/7/3/15/3.6 cbkschubert (2901) - BFE, Arizona, USA - NOV 4, 2009
22 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a hazy amber color with a 3/4 finger thick off white head. Light, tiny spotted lacing. Aroma is pine and herbal hops. Flavor is quite bitter and somewhat astringent. Lots of pine hops in this one. Doesn’t linger too long in the finish. Medium body. If I were to lay back an IPA for a few months, this would be the one. At the moment there is very little malt presence. Still, a decent IPA. Fratto (2845) - Arlington, Texas, USA - NOV 17, 2009
Bottle from ericandersnavy. Pours a hazy orange brown. Aroma is damn fruity. Tastes of musty fruit and hops.
