I'm always anxious when a brewery as well-rounded as Full Sail puts out a new beer, buit this fell a bit short. Truly malty for a porter, this beer lacks the fundamental (for my standards) roastiness a beer of this style should have. It was a bit unbalanced for me, although there is a time and place for beer like this - when you want a scotch ale but all that's available are porters. Nice, but not my cup of tea. Pours a black--almost plum-purple color with a head that spreads thinnly into a film of various sized bubbles. Light roast aroma and an easy roasted flavor. A medium to light bodied porter that is an easy drink and is well balanced with pleasant though subtle flavoring. weusebio (69) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 25, 2003
I love porters, but i wasn't horribly impressed with full sail's offering here. I'd buy it again, but only if McTarnahan's Blackwatch and Deschutes' Black Butte weren't available. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 24, 2003
Clear dark-mahogany with minimal beige head. Aroma is quite roasty, malty, some chocolate. Taste is bland and watery, finishing with a hint of roastiness. mwsf (361) - San Francisco, California, USA - FEB 23, 2003
Roast in the nose. Bland. Quite mild flavor. Thin body. Unfortunately not very impressive.

I swear they are trying to bring back the imperial porter in this beer. A very strong and robust porter, with a huge taste. I could drink a lot of this and not get bored. Thanks Full Sail! cb (810) - Roeland Park, Kansas, USA - FEB 9, 2003
It tasted burnt, but not overly so. Not balanced. Bitter. Chocolate and caramel are there, but not slap-me-in-the-mouth good. grant (842) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - FEB 8, 2003
Creamy chocolate. Not bad, but very focused on these two aspects. Subtle hop bitterness slowly builds to a transcendent epiphany of bitterness. Very caramelly with a balance of coffee bitterness. Gregory (357) - Pullman, Washington, USA - FEB 6, 2003
Pours dark, with a light tan head.
Nicely done. The flavors in this beer are very subtle, roasted malt, chocolate, even a bit of hops. herbstress3 (221) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - JAN 31, 2003
Very dark in color with a thick foamy head. Classic roasty flavor, with light hints of chocolate, makes it go down slowly. Decent all around porter.
