Pours a very dark brown - almost black - with a decent head but virtually no lace.
Scent is of roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, with a hint of butterscotch?
Taste is malty yet balanced. Perhaps a bit astringent. Roasted malt and cocoa are present as are a touch of hops.
Moutfeel is thicker than most Porters and has a nice mineral feel to it. Overall this is a very nice Porter.

Mocha murky appearance – decent tan head- nose coco, coffee, baking chocolate - taste coco, coffee, baking chocolate – soft creamy with a little bitter bite - aftertaste bitter/sweet taste lingering baobubba (454) - Starkville, Mississippi, USA - JAN 19, 2003
UPDATED: JAN 25, 2003 Dark cola like in appearance. Weak malty aroma with a hoppy citrus resin aroma backing up the roast malt and chocolate aroma. Dry flavor with an ephemeral roasty/bitter finish (quickest finish I have ever experienced). Average porter. Tom Servo (424) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - JUN 2, 2005
Wow. Very nice. Can’t believe this doesn’t rate higher. Extra dark brown coloring, with one of the darkest colored heads I’ve ever seen. Bitterness comes from the mocha/coffee flavors, and the aroma is the same, but not too much. leitrim65 (402) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 24, 2003
UPDATED: MAY 26, 2003 Started out okay with hints of cherry and chocolate in the nose. A dark brown color with an off white head that eventually disappears. Drinking it was when things went bad. Watered down coffee and black licorice flavors. With a long harsh metallic finish. Couldn't even finish it.

Roast in the nose. Bland. Quite mild flavor. Thin body. Unfortunately not very impressive. Gregory (357) - Pullman, Washington, USA - FEB 6, 2003
Pours dark, with a light tan head.
Nicely done. The flavors in this beer are very subtle, roasted malt, chocolate, even a bit of hops. irishsnake (355) - Oakland, California, USA - FEB 10, 2005
pours a really pretty deep-red/brown with a pretty tan head that recedes to a nice collar. nose is very malt and sweet, with caramel notes and a "juicines" I smell in other FS beers (I assume that it is the yeast charecter). flavor starts sweet but dries up quickly-plenty of IBUs, and a noble-hop sort of tang cut right thru the malt (good idea, but the Mt. Hoods are a little rough). balance makes for great drinkability.

This poured a dark brown, with an almost stout-like appearance, topped by a tan head. The flavors were very in line with a stout also, roasty grains, and chocolate. I really liked this a lot. herbstress3 (221) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - JAN 31, 2003
Very dark in color with a thick foamy head. Classic roasty flavor, with light hints of chocolate, makes it go down slowly. Decent all around porter.
