pours nicely w/ decent head, deep golden in color, citrusy slightly herbal aroma, light mouthfell, slight maltiness as the beer warms, flavor dominated by cacade hops, citrus, somewhat dry lingering finish. overall enjoyable... jonwell (104) - Huntington Beach, California, USA - MAY 18, 2004
Poured clear, light orange, no head at all. Kind of disappointing. Aroma is sharply lemon, unripe orange, and grapefruit. Taste is fairly strong, bracing hop bitterness, sour citrus, a touch of sweet malts. Light and well carbonated, finishes nice and dry. Lacks the depth of better pale ales, but very tasty nonetheless. A classic example of the West Coast pale--a summer sipper with lotsa light and crispness. The name is actually a bit misleading because the beer’s not a hop monster; my guess is that hop infusions are made throughout the boil so that you get a total hop experience--flavor, aroma, and a nice, but certainly not extreme bittering. Hard to imagine a beer better suited to a sunny afternoon.
