Clear golden pour with a white head. Nose is a bit sweeter than expected. Bread, some sugar, and a lot of pear and apple esters. Mild spiciness of hops, some floral notes, and yeast. Very simple and sweet flavor. Plenty of bread and sugar. Some pear, apple, and yeast. A touch of grass, spicy and floral hops, and a cloying finish.

Rated based on notes taken 18 Aug 2012 -- bottle poured into a pint glass, Very yum. Almost like a wit, tripple, and hef combo.

Poured into a pils glass.

4.0 A: Clear golden yellow color. Three fingers of frothy off-white head. Retention is pretty good and a great deal of lacing is left.

3.5 S: Grassiness through and through. Hay, floral and earthy hops, moderate neutral malt sweetness, and that lager yeast smell.

3.5 T: Taste is like the nose. Grass, hay, floral and earthy hops, sticky neutral maltiness. Moderate doughiness and could be a bit cleaner, but good enough.

4.5 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Velvety viscousness with plenty of creaminess. Very nice here.

3.75 D: Good beer with no real flaws. The mouthfeel is awesome.

Success!! I think that Bud Platinum should take some notes from these guys on how to make a high gravity lager taste and smell like something other than industrialized degreaser. While this isn’t going to set the world on fire, it’s dang good. A lightness in both flavor and aroma in nearly every aspect. A spicey, grassy aroma showing obvious signs of decent hop additions. Light citrus and lemongrass in the flavor with just a nod of cereal-like malts. I would have never guess the 7% in this beer, as it’s very tame. For roughly $7.00 a 6-pack, tasty and affordable.

"grassy hops and a bit of sweetness from the malt greet the nose and taste buds. a little dark for a pale lager, but i don’t really know the criteria. this is a pretty decent standard lager...better than most, clean, simple, and refreshing."

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – Pours a medium amber color with a one finger pure white head. The head fades quite fast leaving very little lace on the sides of the glass and a thin persistent white film on the top of the brew.

Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a grainy smell but has lighter bready smells as well and a decent level of caramel sweetness. A little bit of a grassy and earthy aroma are there as well rounding out the aroma.

Taste – The taste begins with a big bready flavor as well as a quite sweet caramel flavor. The caramel fades toward the middle but is joined by some lighter fruit flavors of grape and pear flavor and some grainy flavors. Some bitter/sour flavors come to the tongue being a bit of lemon and grapefruit. A moderate level of grassy hop comes to the tongue more at the end of the taste along with an increase in the grainy flavors of the brew, to leave a malty and slightly grassy hopped flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to slightly above average side in terms of its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation that is slightly higher than average. For the bitter and grassy hop flavors the higher carbonation is rather nice, while the medium body is still able to hold the maltier flavors of the brew, so… overall the mouthfeel of the beer is quite appropriate.

Overall – A decent malty brew with a fair level of bitter and sour flavors. Not bad, and well worth a try but nothing super exceptional.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with a medium sized fluffy white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet sugar with bitey perfumey hops, bread dough and a bit of golden fruits. The flavor was sweet with bitey perfumey hops, bread dough, sugar and a hint of golden fruits. Medium length finish with lingering perfume. Moderately full bodied. Ok.

Draft at the brewery ( I love beervana). Dark amber red color. Good head retention. Smooth caramel malt. Light bitter finish. Sort of creamy texture. Enjoyed this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Front Door. light and citrusy, not as malty as most heller bocks. Easy drinker, lots of citrus in nose and flavor.
