This is a very extreme beer: extremely bland. Why bother making a brew with so little character. Lightly roasted pale malt with minimal chocolate tones all wrapped up in a wet soapy uninspired weak and thin body. The nuttiness is present but does not add enough to make interesting. Not bad, just very average. riversideAK (6260) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAR 24, 2008
Bottle from the PCC. Pours brown with a decent beige head. Aroma was nutty with some roasted malt as well. Generic brown ale more or less with a pleasant nuttiness. Decent roast. Balanced and drinkable, but not too much going on here. BrewDad (5328) - Olympia, Washington, USA - MAR 23, 2008

Aroma – Lots of malt aroma the light nut in the background.
Appearance – Brown in color, Nice light head and clear.
Flavor – Good brown ale flavor the nut flavor was very night. This is an enjoyable beer.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry finish.
Overall – A good overall brown ale the nut flavor was very light. I like the nut experience so I would care for even more nut in the flavor. Very enjoyable beer.
Bottle... Poured a dark brownish with a light brown head. Thick, robust malt aroma. Very sweet and candy-like, not as much nut as one would expect given the title, and a pretty mild and simple beer. I didn’t expect much pouring this one and that’s what I got. lane1222 (10) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 22, 2008
bottle (2008). Dark brown pour, thin cream-colored head. Subtle aroma, no overpowering scents. Flavor is well-balanced leaning towards the malt. Some hop, not a lot, but enough. A very nice drink.

On tap at Belmont Station--Poured a deep crisp brown-black body with a small wispy white head. Big nutty nose with some malty sweetness. Bold carbonation in mouth feel. Chewy and bitter finish. Very good. HughConway (830) - Washington, USA - MAR 18, 2008
Bottle - 2008 Brewmasters Reserve. Pours dark brown almost black. Tan head dissipates nicely. Roast aroma with coffee and nut overtones. Nice roast flavor that fades with a slight bitterness at the end. Nice beer. scrizzz (2223) - Bothell, Washington, USA - MAR 17, 2008
looks jet black, the brown only shows on the edges in the light. stark white head slowly fell in the center and remained on the rim of the glass. some coffee, mostly roasted nutty aromas. I love the balance between a soft mouthfeel, rising bitterness, and medium roast with each gulp. glides down with some viscosity and finishes of sweet almond. 2008 Brewmaster Reserve
Dark brown color with decent tan head; some good lacing.
Smells very roasty and slightly smoky. Roasted nuts, pecan, hazelnut, caramel and maple syrup all detectable.
Roasted nuts and acidic coffee dominate the flavor. Light cocoa and pecan fade. Good hop balance in this malt show.
Nice medium-bodied mouthfeel and moderate carbonation keep this full-flavored brew very drinkable. rmussman (1701) - California, USA - MAR 9, 2008
Hmmm. This says that its retired but I bought a bottle at Bev Mo for teh 2008 reserve. A very well crafted brew that goes down smooth. Has lots of bitters to start but a very nice after taste. Worth a try as I think it is back.
