From 12oz bottle to shaker. Pour is a deep copper, nice and thick tan head. Nose is malt, slight hop, nutty, faint chocolate. Taste is medium bodied, bitter with light sweet touches as well. Finishes very flavorful and smooth. Nice Nut Brown Ale here, perfect by the fire beer. mt_glass (6) - Montana, USA - FEB 7, 2014 does not count
Sweet almond and hazelnut aromas with bready character. A shallow layer of off white head tops this dark brown beer.
Medium body and malt forward balanced sweetness. Finishes with a modest bitterness and astringency from the roast malt backed with a mild hop bitterness.
Overall a balanced but bold.brown ale.

Very mild pecan nose. Clear brown, thin head. Tart initially, but transitions from raw cranberry to pecan. Grape seeds also present. A bit roo tart and fruity for a brown ale, but nutty character is evident. beertholomeus (1813) - California, USA - JAN 14, 2014

Lovely crystal brown with a near complete tan sheet. Smells of nuts, cocoa, roasted malts, a hint of low impact, earthy hops and just a hint of cinnamon. Taste is bitter, slightly sweet, roasty, toasty and maybe a little astringent. There’s something a little off in the flavor. Medium bodied with fine, velvet carb and an off dry finish. Decent. A delicious, thick-bodied brown ale. Resembles a stout. Nice, chocolately flavor. Smooth. A great, refreshing drink! Tonkun (1296) - New Jersey, USA - JUL 13, 2013
Bottle. Hazy brown pour with a finger of head. Oak, whiskey, brown sauce, soy sauce, chocolate. Water-like and light initially with sugar and carbonation towards the middle with water and bitterness at the finish. Good

Dark brown translucent one finger white head. Aroma of big roasted barley, soy sauce, malt. Tastes like roasts; coffee, barley, chocolate. Some acidic tang to finish palate is overcarbed. pretty good. SFtaster (66) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUL 1, 2013
Decent example of the style. Firm malt back bone and enough hops to balance the sweetness. I prefer Full Sail Amber, but I decided to try this after seeing it offered for the first time at Trader Joe’s in San Fran. Will try their ESB on the next trip to TJ’s. Looking forward to a visit to the ’mother ship’ brewery in Hood River, OR - maybe later this summer? I’m sure that’s where they keep ’the good stuff’.....
