Bomber pours brilliantly clear deep copper with three minute long tan head. The aroma has a modest mix of berry, prunes and apple as well as lesser amounts of syrup covered pineapple and just a sense of yeasty spiciness off in the background. The taste is pretty similar and pulls together a pleasing array of prunes, cherries and apples as well as a slight sense of tannins coming from somewhere. To midway a bit of sugar caramel arrives as well as mild yeasty spice notes. This is an easy drinking brew were the spice and slight drying tannin like note do a good job to give the sweet fruitiness a smidgeon of balance.

The whole purpose of buying the boat in the first place was to get the ladies nice and tipsy top side, so we can take them to a nice comfortable place below deck, and you know, they can’t refuse...because of the implication..

Plovmand (8312) - Helsinge, DENMARK - NOV 29, 2010
Bottle. Bit hazy amber pour with a medium off white head. The aroma is sweet mlayt, caramel, yeast, spices and some ripe fruit. The flavour is sweet malt, fruit, caramel and light acidic. Light bitter finish.

after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - SEP 15, 2010
22. Pours a nearly clear rubied dark amber. Set to the side, it looks muddy brown. Up to the light, it looks like a glittering pendant from an Indiana Jones movie. Loose tan head falls quickly to a loose smear of film. Big bready nose, smells like brown bread that somebody knocked some sugar into without realizing it and baked it anyway. Creamy medium body. Very little carb, especially for a dubbel. Brown bread, caramel, brown sugar, and a little bit of a ginger snap effect on the mid palate. Mildly sugar and spicy finish. Clean and well made but nowhere near the power and complexity of a world classic, especially given the depth and intensity of the tools (e.g., yeast flavors) available to the brewer with these. But that’s the trick. Those yeasts aren’t always actually available. So you get this nice bready flowery business too often.

JaBier (7973) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JAN 21, 2011
Bottle shared by a friend. Clear red/orange pour with a thin off-white head. Dank and musty malt aroma with some banana. Cloying sweet flavor with caramel, cherry and banana character. Not my thing.

PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - OCT 30, 2011
Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - 22 oz bomber. Pours a dark copper with a sticky, bubbly, off-white head that sticks around a while. Aroma is somewhat neutral, pick up some light raisin-like notes - but not very prominent. Flavor is mellow but nice. Pick up some Christmas-like spices, light toffee, some nectarine-like fruitiness and just a hint of chocolate. Not chock full of flavor but session worthy. Mouthfeel is warming and thick.

BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - SEP 26, 2010
22oz 2010 bottle thanks to LtDan. Pours with a mostly clear copper body with an off-white head that fades somewhat quickly. Aroma is somewhat bland. Graham crackers, raisin, vanilla, cherry, caramel, toasty, fruity, bready. Flavors of honey, biscuit, fruit, vanilla wafers, plum, cherry and maple. Not a typical Dubbel at all. Also getting some strawberries and sugar on the finish. Graham crackers/bready. Not bad, but not traditional nor particularly memorable. Medium bubbles, creamy.

Quite a mild aroma of caramel malt, fruit and yeast Flavour of caramel malt, fruit, yeast and some sugary sweetness. Average to medium bodied. Just O.K., pretty mild for a Dubbel.

22oz Bottle. Pours out a amber/orange topped with a small off white head. Aroma of pit fruit, spice, brown sugar, and some yeast. Taste was much as the aroma with the sweetness of the pit fruit and brown sugar.
