Rich malt aromas fill the nose. Flavors of biscuit and roast are rounded by a rich sweet malt character. This Dubbel is lightly hopped and finishes with Belgian yeast spice notes and a chewy finish. Available in 22oz. bottles and draught. ABV 7% IBU 20

10/31/11. Boo. 22oz bomber. Dark brown pour, clear red pour with a small khaki head that cuts fast and laces a little. Fruity bubblegum aroma with apples, berries, and a bit of banana. Really sweet, fruity flavor that touches on berries, lemon peel, yeast, and roasted caramel. Meh.

The whole purpose of buying the boat in the first place was to get the ladies nice and tipsy top side, so we can take them to a nice comfortable place below deck, and you know, they cant refuse...because of the implication..

22. Pours a nearly clear rubied dark amber. Set to the side, it looks muddy brown. Up to the light, it looks like a glittering pendant from an Indiana Jones movie. Loose tan head falls quickly to a loose smear of film. Big bready nose, smells like brown bread that somebody knocked some sugar into without realizing it and baked it anyway. Creamy medium body. Very little carb, especially for a dubbel. Brown bread, caramel, brown sugar, and a little bit of a ginger snap effect on the mid palate. Mildly sugar and spicy finish. Clean and well made but nowhere near the power and complexity of a world classic, especially given the depth and intensity of the tools (e.g., yeast flavors) available to the brewer with these. But thats the trick. Those yeasts arent always actually available. So you get this nice bready flowery business too often.

22oz 2010 bottle thanks to LtDan. Pours with a mostly clear copper body with an off-white head that fades somewhat quickly. Aroma is somewhat bland. Graham crackers, raisin, vanilla, cherry, caramel, toasty, fruity, bready. Flavors of honey, biscuit, fruit, vanilla wafers, plum, cherry and maple. Not a typical Dubbel at all. Also getting some strawberries and sugar on the finish. Graham crackers/bready. Not bad, but not traditional nor particularly memorable. Medium bubbles, creamy.

Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - 22 oz bomber. Pours a dark copper with a sticky, bubbly, off-white head that sticks around a while. Aroma is somewhat neutral, pick up some light raisin-like notes - but not very prominent. Flavor is mellow but nice. Pick up some Christmas-like spices, light toffee, some nectarine-like fruitiness and just a hint of chocolate. Not chock full of flavor but session worthy. Mouthfeel is warming and thick.

Quite a mild aroma of caramel malt, fruit and yeast Flavour of caramel malt, fruit, yeast and some sugary sweetness. Average to medium bodied. Just O.K., pretty mild for a Dubbel.

Bomber from Hayduke. We shared one via facebook chat. This was reddish brown and had a nice beige head. A nose of ripe fruit, soft hops, and some Belgian yeast. In the flavor the hops and yeast stayed subtle but were noted. This was dominated by dark and over ripe fruit. Raisins were on display. At one point chocolate lead but it was mostly in the background. The malt was kind of syrupy and was sweet. Alcohol was tasted and seemed bigger than 7%. I liked it and found it tasty and complex enough to be fun.
