COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Session Black is short, dark and totally drinkable. The initial tastes are a subtle pairing of caramel and chocolate malt flavors with precise hopping to provide an elegant citrus background to the delicate finish of dark cocoa.

Bottle. The pour was a very murky dark brown with some ruby highlights and an average sized (1-2 finger) creamy beige head that was mostly diminishing, leaving behind a very thin layer of residue and a small foamy ring thus producing some good spotty lacing. The aroma was of dark roasted caramel malts, a mild resin hop and a leathery yeast with mild notes of coffee, chocolate, molasses and a bit of black licorice. The taste was decently malty and mildly bitter all the way through with notes of molasses and licorice early on and then having hints of chocolate and coffee at the finish. The flavor lasted an average duration with the mild dark roasty flavor left to linger for just a little while. Mouthfeel was just a shade or two under medium in body with a watery and mildly creamy texture and a prickly carbonation. Overall a nice mellow dark brew, very easy to drink, yet still having that wonderful dark beer flavor. Absolutely a great session beer, hence the name...

Dark brown color. Medium-sized, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Sweet, malty taste with bitter , roasted notes at the end. Seemed kind of weak and thin. Not bad though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

11 oz bottle in Oregon. Mild flavor and aroma but strong enough to leave a light lingering flavor of dark roasted grains and light bitter hops. Solid but not extraordinary flavor. Exceptional soft and smooth but lively mouthfeel.

Session signature short bottle, skipped the pour. Thanks to Eugene for the bottle/reminder that I never rated this back in my Session kick days. Creamy chocolate malt. Almost like a sweet cream, milk chocolate porter. Interesting, unique lager. Dark, but cool finish. Pretty good stuff.

Bottle from Trader Joes that I took camping. Roasty black flavors were nicer than most lagers. This was not too bad really.
