Dark opaque black color, small off-white head. Roasted coffee and some chocolate in the aroma. Medium-bodied. Soft palate (cask!). Toasted, dark malty flavor with hints of dark chocolate. Nice pleasant stout.
creamy brown nitrogen head atop a deep brown body. soft cocoa and milk powder nose. high oily char character but the nitrogen body and delicate malt allow it reach creamy-espresso-crema-mode, rather than astringent-harsh-soy-licorice-mode. robust and creamy, drying across the middle and finishing with soft roasted barley, creamy oat and semi-bitter baker’s chocolate. expertly crafted dry stout. On nitro tap Full Sail Bend Pours out a black with a cream tan head. Aroma of sweet roast and some coffee. Tast was the sweet roast malts, some light coffee and a little bitterness on the end. PorterPounder (8357) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 12, 2012
Hood River, Or - on tap at the brewpub. Dark black pour, nice thick khaki colored head, thick lacing. Aroma has some nice coffee accents, a bit of chicory. Flavor follows the same pattern with a heavy accent on the coffee with some licorice thrown in there for good measure. Nice thick lacticity in the mouthfeel - nice creaminess. Tap @ Portland Taproom: Called the "Slaine" stout, but it was on nitro, so I imagine that a dry irish stout on nitro is probably going to be slainte, not slaine. Maybe a word document autocorrect? Who knows. This pours a dark black with a thick tan head and a sheet of brown lacing. The nose is smoky with a sweet chewy roastiness and light acidity. The flavor is thin, but very roasty with plenty of chocolate and black patent. The finish is clean; thin and acidic. Not bad. Very irish.

Wonderfully black body with thick, exceptionally lush, creamy chocolate head. Quite rough, roasty nose, full of roasty barley and coffee. Creamy mouthfeel. Very grainy roast coffee at back of the throat. Dry barley and bitter roast finish. A more roasty and bitter version of Guiness. dfinney23 (3424) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 25, 2012
Dark and malty but that’s about it. Pales in comparison to some of the other dark beers on tap at the brewery this day. beernovice39 (3269) - Idaho, USA - MAR 5, 2013
