Brewmasters Reserve 2007: Aroma is a bit subtle for an IIPA but is very good nonetheless. Fresh, sweet, ruby-red grapefruit is what my nose picks up. I already know this is going to be a great tasting brew. WOW. Awesome, ripe, grapefruit flavor in this brew. One of the best citrus tasting brews I’ve ever tasted. Extremely well balanced for an IIPA. Fantastic round, sweetish, bitterness. 7.8% alcohol? You’ve got to be kidding, This beer is so smooth and easy drinking it is deceptive. I need to stock up on this beer asap!!! GreatLibations (1854) - Last Supper, Arizona, USA - FEB 25, 2008
Pours like honey with a tall, creamy froth. Superb head retention leaving a full downy blanket to cover. Beautiful aromatics on display, fresh sweet citrus pine and caramel. Full nectar with gentle effers for a soft slightly fiberous texture. Big blisterng Robo Hop hits the scene traveling at excessive speeds rounding the corner and bam, Malt Man absorbs the stabbing knife blades but never deturing the spicey sting of fresh, scaring hop acid. Other nuances of caramel, popsickle, cotton candy, leather. The finish is bittered with a blind judicious eye to the point of severity. Tom Servo (424) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - JUL 14, 2005
This is freakin’ sweet. Aroma is hops, hops, hops. Coloring is bright, and I mean BRIGHT, orange. Big fluffy head, and it left beautiful lace in the glass. Actually fairly balanced, but still has the great hop quality. The mouthfeel is fairly thick, especially in comparison with others in the style. Great beer. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAR 15, 2007
Aroma is sweet malt, some vanilla? and some grassy earth. The beer pours and orange gold color that is somewhat opaque. The flavor is nothing what I expected from the aroma. There is huge hop flavor. Some pine, some grapefruit, a little bit of smooth malt backbone, and then some more dryhoppy resins. The beer is well balanced, yet still extremely hoppy. The body is relatively light for how resiny it is, and it is really easy to drink.

Had this beer on 7/7/2004. Aroma is full of a nice fresh hop scent. Color is a pale orange/gold with light carbonation and a thin head. Taste is, wow just right. Starting with a full/medium body and a sweet mouth feel it then goes down creamy with just a slight bite on the end. The finish is where all the fun is, its not that this is the most flavorful Imperial IPA but it may be the most balanced. Finish comes on with a combination of sweet hops and malt, then a fresh hop tone starts to show its self and as it gently builds a nice bitterness comes in on the end to balance it all out. I think its one of the best IPA’s I have ever had and is the best Imperial IPA I have had yet, some others have just over done it. exadore (92) - Sacramento, California, USA - JAN 10, 2008
Bottle. Poured a burnt straw color, almost reddish coppery, with a healthy two-finger head. Hoppy citrus nose, similar to grapefruit. Sweeter than I would like, with incredible "springy and light" flavor. Spry, maybe? Regardless, I don’t think this is a true Imperial IPA, but its really good. Recommended, and available for trade. Bottle from Tops in Tempe on the fly while picking up an AS Speedway (only 2 beers this time). Saw the within style rating after buying and was a little bummed. Fortunately, however, this thing kicked butt and the heck with the rest of you raters who don’t know what you’re doing (J/K!). A nice typical pour, amberish in color, carbonation bubbles visible and slowly rising, although the head and lacing could have been better. The aroma was wonderful rich grapefruits and other citrus elements, maybe the most variety of citrus things going on ever in a single beer (never knew there was so much to citrus?). The flavor also kicked butt, finishing with firm bitterness to balance a maltiness that was neither sweet nor alcy hot. The heck with you all on this rating, excellent brew. Full Sail Slipknot, 22 fluid ounces of Imperial IPA, Brewmaster’s Reserve 2008.
Into a smallish snifter it goes...fairly opaque orange, with mere shadows reflected behind the glass, slim white head above.
Piney, citric aroma, lemon zest, orange peel, a slice of lime...wet, fresh, and pithy. Nice.
Lovely in the mouth with just enough bracing bitterness to spank the palate, but not too much to keep you from reaching for more. Juicy, highly hopped, but dry at the end. Sits pleasantly in the mouth, and waits for more imbibement to come. More fruit jumps out, some peach, mango, grapefruit tinges, another squeeze of lime. Delicious.
Long lasting flavor, big bitterness, but still smooth and tasty. Beautiful!
