The Dan journal #389. Tasted 8/5/10. 22oz bomber. Filtered with a dark golden hue. Webbed off-white head. Aromas of subtle oranges and herbal grassy hops. Medium bodied and rather astringent. Good bitterness with a bright effervescence and a dry finish. Flavors of citrus fruit, especially oranges and grapefruit. Bitter finish and mildly sticky. Very well crafted and drinkable!

medium light burnt orange color, medium to dark tan head. first guess is noble or noble-like hops, which has to be the willamette (earthy, mineralic, dried grass), and along with what seems like a small amount of cara-pils or marris otter it has a somewhat chalky, soil-like dried vegetable smell and flavor (the zues hops I guess add the high acid/low flavor bitterness, which seems a bit transparent - I prefer high acid columbus-like hop character to be combined with more fruit/citrus cascade-like hop character). rough body, the MO of full sail, but a quality of their house character and mashing that doesn’t bug me too much. decent IPA that leans east but isn’t something I’d find myself craving.

Draft at Cafe Amsterdam. Dark orange with a creamy head. Rich with a woodsy citric bite. Tangy finish. Makes me smack my lips. (#3957, 8/1/2010)

Pours clear orange with a foamy white head that fades. Aroma of mostly grain and some citrus rind. Taste has lots of grainy malt also with a mild hop bitterness.

22oz bottle.Pours a orange/amber with a soapy white head.Nose is herbal and pine hops.Taste is bitter hops up front and on the finish with herbal hops prevalent throughout. The hops are on display for sure in this brew but not enough malt character to even things out. This is definitely an english style IPA but not a well balanced one...

Bottle. Amber pour with a short, off-white head. Hoppy and spicy nose with light pine and citrus and an herbal hoppiness. Taste is ripe fruit, sweet malt, caramel, citrus, spicy hops and herbal notes. Body is medium and chewy with a soft bubbly carbonation. Ends with more herbal and spicy hops, citrus, light pine, sweet malt, candy, fruit notes, and caramel.

22oz Bottle – Gravity Beer Market – Olympia, WA
Aroma – Big hop aroma with a nice balanced malt.
Appearance – Amber in color, clear, with a thin head.
Flavor – This was filled with fruity hops flavor. The malts where subtle this was a big IPA.
Palate – Dry finish with a Nice Mouthfeel.
Overall – Very nice IPA. Loved it after mowing the lawn.

Draught at Pilsner Room Portland. Malty English IPA. Medium Body. Taste is nothing exceptional. Average.

caramel, somehwhat floral aroma. Golden amber color, pretty clear - minimal white head. Taste starts out kind of sweet and malty, but has a bitter finish - the more I had, the more the bitterness tamed the sweetness of it. Interesting aftertaste - kind of stays on the tongue for a bit - taste definitely lasts awhile. Overall, I kind of liked it. I wouldn’t say it was the perfect IPA, for sure - kind of tastes more like a cross between an IPA and an amber, but it’s tasty, nonetheless.
