This is right up there with deschutes for me for the best winter ale in the northwest. It is really good. I also like Full Sail’s Barleywine.
Bottle from World Market in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is caramel, spiced plums. Taste is creamy caramel, fruity malts with a bitter, spiced woods-y finish. Excellent NW winter warmer. Travlr (24745) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JAN 18, 2017
Bottle. Clear deep amber color, thick tan head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of burnt caramel. Taste is earthy toasted caramel. Warming. wombat23 (1417) - Texas, USA - DEC 29, 2016
Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with a beige head. Malt and spice on the nose. Taste is quite malty, with sweet caramel and holiday spices. darbeer75 (902) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - DEC 20, 2016
Aroma: sweet and malty; Appearance: dark amber with thin white head that dissipates slowly; Taste: follows nose with dry, strong notes; Palate: heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: almost too sweet but underlying dryness saves it; will probably not get again, however. natejgood (510) - Bozeman, Montana, USA - DEC 9, 2016
Pours a nice medium-dark brown with very little head. Aroma is a bit malty and isn’t anything special. Flavor is a bit sweet on the nose and finishes with a bit of bitterness. The beer has a nice, hearty feel in the mouth, which is great for a winter beer. Overall this is a nice offering for a winter beer.

12 oz bottle with a bottling date of October 2016.
Look: A deep mahogany colored body topped by a weak head. Minimal lacing,
Aroma: spicy, hoppy and malty
Flavor: follows aroma, with less spicing than the aroma suggests. More hops than expected for style (highly variable though it is).
Feel: full body; light carbonation. Capa (3295) - Kitsap, Washington, USA - NOV 17, 2016
Deep brown with a tan head. Malty, toasted, lightly sweet, lightly roasted, some spicy notes. Medium bodied. A very nice winter warmer. JohnGalt1 (1721) - Boise, Idaho, USA - AUG 23, 2016
shortlasting light tan head... pretty good lacing lasts through most of the glass. Dark Dark brown ... but still nice and translucent.
Nutty biscuity brown malts dominated the nose ... like an less malty English old ale ... sort of expected low PNW/American hop balance.
Taste is the same with some lite cherry and raisin mixed ... not overly complex by any means, but still supremely drinkable. Fujimo2000 (169) - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA - JAN 9, 2016
Pours dark copper with off white lacing. Aroma and taste is caramel, winter spices but the finish is spruce. KansaiBeerLvrs (5152) - Kyoto, JAPAN - DEC 25, 2015
Merry Christmas Everyone!

It pours a deep inky black with a surprisingly sweet candied fruit aroma. Fairly full bodied this beer delivers candied fruits, citrusy hops, malty biscotti and some nuts with a dash of cinnamon and possibly allspice. Quite sweet but nice.
