(Bottle, 0.5 l - #07791, from Alko Arkadia, 20120310) The beer poured brown and clear. Its head was like soap foam. Aroma had whisky, malts, manure and sourness. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were sourness, whisky, malts, wood, mild tartness and low bitterness. Aftertaste was sour, woody and mildly bitter. Cloudy deep golden colour with small ugly head. Aroma has mild sourness, some sweetness and kebab with rice. Flavour is mild sweetness, malt, warming alcohol and also strange Lambic like sourness. Lame beer with strange sourness. Alcohol is quite well hidden. I think Auchentoshan is best served without Fuller's.

Flavour is really surprising with earthy notes typical to Brettanomyces beers. Also some cognag-like vanilla and hints of oak. Flavour is slightly sour and tart with earthy notes, some peat, vanilla and smoke. A weak sting of whisky at the finish, reminds me of BrewDog Bitch Please. Unique, complex and interesting.

Pours a deep copper colour with a white head. Rich aroma of vanilla, cognac, some malts and wet wood. Some sour notes as well. Flavour of rich malts, vanilla and wood, honey, light ginger burn and some sweet sour fruits. Medium bodied, quite foamy mouthfeel and a finish of sweet fruits, honey, oak and surprisingly strong whisky notes. Complex brew, I’m digging this. No. 2 was a bit better, however.

Pours clear copper color with minimal head. Aroma of bretta yeast, oak, vanilla notes, caramel malts, dark berries and some ripe fruits. Flavor of sour fruits, mild berries, nettle, caramel malts, oak, whiskey notes and vanilla. Quite odd but still exiting brew.

Pours brownish orange with a small white head. Quite strange aroma of tart fruits, oak, vanilla, honey and spices. Taste is sweet and slightly bitter with notes of vanilla, oak, malts and toffee. Finish of slightly tart fruits, vanilla, spices and hints of whisky. Overall a bit unbalanced and untypical, but still quite tasty.

Reddish amber colour. Weak head. Sweet cherry aroma. Flavour is cherry-dominated with woody notes. As the beer gets warmer there’s some tarry whisky notes showing up in the background.
Bottle # 09063 @ home, from De Bierkoning. Dark copper color. Head is medium white, with some retention. Upon opening the bottle smells of a good lambic come out. That sourness is then reduced by aroma’s of oak/wood, alcohol, sweet & sour fruit, lemon, honey, a bit vinous. Very complex. Flavor is lightly sour, lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Wood notes throughout, but not overpowering. Medium body. Finishes somewhat dry, but without bitterness. One of those beers that gets better and better as the glass gets emptier. Bottle best before end 2014, ink-stamped bottle number 00470. Nose is mostly stale old whisky, some doughy/spicy yeast, and sweet fruity malt. Very pretty red-amber body with the beige head afizzle. Taste swims in booze, slightly sour, bitter with an extremely nice woody contribution, firm oak with vanilla. Further, yeast and traditional hops, hot ginger, orange peel, dripping honey not diminished by the light fruity tang or harsh fizz. Warming, layered full body. A lot of things going for it, but I don’t think the flavors are in quite the right proportions to each other and I’m mostly bored with drinking it with another ten ounces still to go. Do like the alcohol warmth and ginger warmth, helped ease me out of the cold tonight.
