COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The fourth incarnation of Brewer’s Reserve spent a year in the Fuller’s cellar in rare Comte de Lauvia Armagnac casks from the Bas region of France. The beer is infused with brandy characteristics, with distinctive notes of vanilla, green apple and cinnamon, a solid malt base and velvety alcohol warmth.

Ogi’s, from Slovenia. Yay! Poured a misty amber-brown body with a slightly off white head that went away slowly. Light šljivovica in the aroma, slightly malty. Empty taste, light, incredibly so considering it’s barrel aged and 8.5% Mostly empty, with notes of the liquor whose barrels it was in. And it kinda works, but not that much.

Bottle. Bright copper with a white head that lasts and laces well. Aroma of Armagnac, vanilla, prunes, orange rind, white pepper. Medium bodied, low carbonation. Dominated by Armagnac, which comes across as harsh and weedy. The grapiness and spirity feel of it overwhelms any Fullers layers of toffee things that _may_ be going on underneath and you get straight to vanilla, bitter oranges and oak. Too early? - but there’s no heat from the alcohol. Maybe the ’gnac will fade. As is, no good.

Bottle, 8.5%. Good fruity aroma. Clear amber colour. Small white head. The flavour is fruity with a good citric note, sweet, vanilla. Well-balanced.

Sigmund (7971) - Tau, NORWAY - MAY 23, 2013
Sample from bottle at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2013. Brown colour, moderate off-white head. Distinct aroma of fruit cake and fortified/oaked wine The flavour is not too sweet (surprisingly dry, actually), and has distinct notes of armagnac oak barrel. Decent hops in the finish. Will buy again when I can get a whole bottle, I expect I will have no problem finishing it.

Rune (13659) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAY 20, 2013
500ml, no. 21713, bottle conditioned, from Fullers Brewery Shop. Noisy, off-white head, well retained, fragile lacing. Clear golden-brown coloured body. Cloudy last pour. Harmonic aroma of leafy hops, mid-sweet malts, and with the impact of wood and cellar. Comprehensive taste character of toffee-like malts and semi-tart grapes supported by fresh juicy fruits. Leafy bitter ending added by integrated alcohol. Excellent drinkability as always with the Fullers beers (at home, Tromsø 13.05.2013).
