The fourth incarnation of Brewer’s Reserve spent a year in the Fuller’s cellar in rare Comte de Lauvia Armagnac casks from the Bas region of France. The beer is infused with brandy characteristics, with distinctive notes of vanilla, green apple and cinnamon, a solid malt base and velvety alcohol warmth.

Had with Chad to celebrate the end of the semester. Pours an amber orange medium carbonation with one finger of creamy off white head. Aroma is sweet malt cherries and oranges. Very nice. Flavor follows with hints of vanilla and some alcohol. Medium bodied. Nice beer. Picked up in Canterbury.

Bottle no. 18804. A beautiful beer, dark red and slightly brown, a head is quite big and beige. The nose is rich of nuanceess and tastefull. Riped fruits, lots of perry, sweet apples, nice fructose, vanilla, also some berries and wood. Very fruitfull aroma. Taste start with lots of fruits, perry, plums, hint of alcohol and sherry that is only strenghtening the fruitness. Then dryer, some barrel. Medium+ bodied, powerfull and slow to drink, still quite fresh. Very interesting, it’s rare to find the beer that is so strong and fruitfull, at least the aroma is pure fruitcake. Tasts is not so fashinating than aroma but still very close to it. The great beer.

Bottle from the brewery shop. Balanced, surprisingly soft. MAlty, robust, clear character from the wood.

Pours ruby copper with a quickly fading head. Nose shows sherry, sweet golden syrup and toffee, raisins, soft woody notes with a hint of vanilla and some soft booze. Similar flavours at first with more port, raisins and golden syrup. Some of the oak transfers through along with some slight boozy, drier armagnac. Carbonation is excessive.

2014-02-26. Crisp dark amber brown, nice foamy beige head fades. 3+ Aroma is lightly woody and moderately alcoholic. Flavour is sweetly malty and lightly sugary up front. Fruity notes through the middle, whisper of vanilla grows into a woody character in the finish. Finishes relatively dry and alcoholic, what I presume to be Armagnac but I am not familiar enough with that to say for sure. Average plus bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Okay, the barrel aging is not particularly to my own tastes. Bottle from the LCBO, Toronto

bjakk (774) - Skagafjordur, ICELAND - FEB 19, 2014
Sour, oak fruit orange, apricot in the aroma. Sour, orange raisins oak, alcohol, bitterness in the aftertaste with raisins and alcohol. Medium body high in bitterness.
