The fourth incarnation of Brewer’s Reserve spent a year in the Fuller’s cellar in rare Comte de Lauvia Armagnac casks from the Bas region of France. The beer is infused with brandy characteristics, with distinctive notes of vanilla, green apple and cinnamon, a solid malt base and velvety alcohol warmth.

Bottle from Slowbeer. Aromas of cognac, cherries, peach, grain. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, and long length.

from Mondial de la Bière 2013, Mulhouse - dark and clear amber beer with no foam; aroma of apple, woodand caramel, perfumy, hugely carbonated; some sweetness and a solid tart bitterness; decently dry and with long woody notes and more hints of apples and pears in the finish

500 mL bottle from the LCBO, bottle #26770, served in a stem glass. Pours clear copper with a moderate tan head that fades to a ring of bubbles and leaves a trace of lace. On the nose, there are notes of caramel malts, oak, figs, cocoa, toffee and a subtle hint of English hops. The flavour is moderately sweet throughout, with hints of molasses, raisins, figs and vanilla. Oak is present in the background, along with subtle English hops. The finish is long and malty with oak, cocoa, fruit and subtle English hops. On the palate it is medium in body with a smooth, syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice barrel-aged English ale. The barrel notes complement the base beer well and enhance its complexity. Well done. 2013-06-15

Got this from the LCBO a while back. Comes in a nice Fuller’s box. Bottle No. 25926 with a seal over the cap. Pours a clean rich amber colour with a big frothy warm head, great retention and some foamy patch lacing. Lots of apples in the nose, with some butterscotch and light coffee. Flavours of raisins, watery caramel and hints of hops in the finish. Very mild sourness is felt in the aromas, and plums and molasses do appear with time. Armagnac is minimal but blends well with the beer. Not as complex as expected, but alcohol is well-hidden.

Bottle #19623. Deep, copper color, lasting off-white head. Rich banana aroma. Full, balanced flavor with more banana, cane sugar and oaky notes. Full body, medium-high carbonation. Nice. Much better than the previous reserves.

TBone (17793) - Pori, FINLAND - NOV 20, 2013
Bottled 500ml from Arkadia. Clear amber color, small steady off-white head. Malty, apple aroma but also similar cellary smell than in other Fullers Reserves had. Medium-bodied. Apple, armangnac is evident. Some barrel-like cellaryness. Fullers flavors: malts, toffee, some alcohol. I am not the biggest fan of this reserve series.

Bottle 11257 from Maruhn, Darmstad
Amber color, possibly hazy, with medium head. Mild malt aroma, quite elegant, with hints of apple spirit (that would be calvados), therefore also light fruitiness. Smooth mouthfeel, highly carbonated, moderate malt and caramel flavor, with a hint of brandy; correct bitterness; at least, it doesn’t have the vegetables touch of the recent Vintage beers.

Bottiglia 50cl (N° 1807), comprata da spirito di vino e bevuta a casa. Ambrata con bella schiuma. Corposa, alcolica, molto malto, molto liquorosa. Certamente non di facile beva, ma decisamente buona.
