4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours dark amber with a bubbly white foamhead that settles to a nice attractive layer throughout the session. With it’s foam layer and that reddish brown color it is certainly an attractive beer. Equally attractive is the aroma, sweet from candied fruit and flowery from some exotic plant. It is one of the most delicious nose of any beer. The taste is carrying on feeling created by the start, but here hops are playing an important part as the bitterness is playing hide and seek with the sweetness from crystal malts. Very balanced, almost a tad too much bitterness, but it’s the kind that makes you think about when you can have another swig. It’s simply delicious too. Medium to full in the mouth with classic english lower carbonation. I still prefer the London Pride, but the ESB is a classy great beer from a classy great brewery. I like.
Pours a clear deep amber colour with thin white head and average carbonation. Aromas of roasted malts, caramel and toffee, grainy plus notes of orange and grassy, earthy hops. Taste is rich, full bodied, dialled up malt driven flavours of toffee, stewed fruits and a nice biscuit-like character all backed with a firm hop bitterness which is slightly spicy, grassy and earthy. Carbonation is very gentle and refreshing and the finish is lightly warming, with a gentle bitterness being left behind. Really enjoyable ESB, great with steak! yerffoeg (83) - Dinant, BELGIUM - JAN 17, 2018
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2018 500ml bottle. Deep copper, clear. Smell is delicious but can’t but my finger on it. Taste is caramel, burnt oranges, balanced bitterness, melts in mouth, quite smooth. It’s subtle but excellent beer. FunkyF (1401) - Örebro, SWEDEN - DEC 21, 2017
Flaska på La Pampa. Bärnstensfärgad med luftigt smutsvitt skum. Doft av kåda och barr. Söt med smak av barr. Piepenhenrich (1289) - Steinbach, GERMANY - DEC 20, 2017
Pours clear amber/copper with low white head. Very interesting, rather complex composition of flavors: a gentle bitterness, some malt, some booze and a curious but somehow fitting taste of bread or cookies. Good one!

9. 12. 2017, Ljubljana. Bottled. Served a bit underchilled. Aroma held back, hints of corn. Colour is dark orange/amber with off-white head with some retention. Taste is somewhat malty sweet in the beginning, not intense, swallowing creeps in fine bittering which lingers and rings out slowly in the aftertaste. Nice. Med bodied, even thin a bit, easy dryish finish. Good under proper circumstances, but just not my favourite style. p0urmeac0ld0ne (413) - Merthyr Tydfil, WALES - DEC 8, 2017

Amber beer with lots of malt sweetness and some dry hoppiness in the finish. Dont really get its rating a fairly standard strong amber ale. Zilverenmaan (316) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - DEC 3, 2017
Aroma and taste mostly sweetish malts at first, some caramel, some apple, subtle fruity hops, somewhat grainy MF, light bitter finish. Starts of a bit too sweet for my taste but surprisingly complex. beergearbox (150) - London, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 29, 2017
