Bottle & keg (USA); Pasteurised.
First brewed in 1971. Ingredients: Pale Ale malt, Crystal malt and Maize; Target, Challenger, Northdown and Goldings hops.
Brewed at 5.5% ABV in cask and 5.9% ABV in bottle, ESB is a true liquid legend, and should be savoured as such.
ESB has a wonderful rich mahogany appearance. Taking in the nose, the beer is bursting with cherry and orange, balanced by soft malty toffee and caramel notes. The flavour delivers everything you would expect from such a full-bodied ale. The unique blend of Northdown, Target, Challenger and Goldings hops imparts grassy, peppery notes on the tongue along with intense citrus fruit characters of grapefruits, oranges and lemons. The blend of Pale Ale and Crystal malts in the brew give a biscuity, toffee element to the beer. A smooth, mellow bitterness lingers on the palate to give a superbly satisfying finish.

The best bitter! (Aside from Harvey's BB) Beautiful deep copper accompanied by light head. Chewy toffee malts with a nice bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nutty, bready, a bit of fruit like red apple and pumpkin. Smooth texture, low carbonation, malty with a low to medium bitterness.

Bottle a week from its best-before, is actually slightly past it, sadly. Pours a rich red-brown with a small, fast-settling head, fruit, cocoa and honey aromas, toasty caramel and dark marmalade but with a faint tart, papery tang. Dry and hoppy finish wirh hints of oak.

Aroma intenso e agradvel. Cor avermelhada, amargor balanceado, porm deixando uma certa suavidade em seu paladar.

(500 ml bottle) I first came across this little number in the early months of 2016. I clearly remember being blown away by the sheer quality of the brew, and the rich biscuity malt. Pours a crystal-clear, copper-amber beer, with medium-fine carbonation, and a frothy off-white head. This smells like a proper English bitter, with subtle notes of toffee, biscuit, grapefruit flesh, and floral hops, leading to an oak and walnut finish. Its soft, smooth body makes for very easy drinking. Although this bottle didn't live up to my vivid recollections, it's well-balanced, beautifully blended, and crafted to the highest standards of British brewing tradition.

On tap at The Bunker Club, pours mahogany with very little carbonation. Super smooth orange and cherry and a great finish.

500 mL bottle. The pour is a dark copper color with a thinner light gray head and a remaining ring without any lace. The aroma is lightly sweet on the front end with a caramel and a maltiness before it turns into an earthy bitter hop. A light bit of alcohol and a scorched malt brings up the rear. It's decent, and you can definitely smell the bitter. The flavor is alcohol up front, surprisingly. There is a sweetness to the malt and a sharp caramel. The bitterness comes through on the back end and just last. There is an earthiness to it, but damn are they bitter and profound. The mouth feel is medium bodied with a soft carbonation and a lingeringly bitter caramel hop thing happening. Not terrible. 6 4 7 4 14

Kopergeel, net geen witte foamy schuimkraag, helder, weinig koolzuur. Aroma: Zoet moutig, zoet fruitig....idd iets kers zoals beschreven, karamel/toffee. Zeer aangenaam. Heerlijk!
