COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised bottle. Also available in keg for export only. The very occasional cask version is only available in the UK and has a separate listing.
Goldings hops and Golden Promise malt.
At 8.5% ABV, Golden Pride guarantees a superb range of flavours, that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of palates. Our brewers describe Golden Pride thus: ’ deep amber in appearance, Golden Pride is full bodied, of moderate bitterness, moderately hopped and rich in malt. Full flavoured, and reminiscent of sweet orange oil, toasted grains, and bread. Rich malty aromas lead to a similarly styled palate, with an intense finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are expressed in good balance in this weighty brew.’ Or as the late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, put it: ’the Cognac of beers’.

50 cl bottle. A beautiful red/amber beer with a small beige head. Malty nose, with vinous and fruity notes. The flavour is caramelly and malty. Full body and the finish is bitter. Balanced beer. A nice ale.

Solid British ale, quite fruity aroma, some similarities with brandy in taste.

Van de tap in de klep, ABT bier van de maand. Helder roodbruin bier. Ruikt wat zurig en moutig. Smaakt idem. Medium body. De 8,5 procent alcohol valt niet op. Niet zo mijn smaak.

Bottle. Clear dark amber/copper with a dense yellowed head that doesn’t lace that much. Big sweet aroma with syrupy bready and marmalade fruity apricot and orange notes. Some salty peppery leather and pointy hops. Taste is also quite sweet, but just enough to stay elegant. Decently complex with lots of marmalade fruit, bread, caramel, spice, some leather and hops. Big body with soft low carbonation, but still very drinkable. A very nice beer!

Vanilla caramel marshmallow cherry sweet booze aroma. Heavy big bodied beer. Slight bitterness, but mostly a sticky boozy caramel tasting brew not unlike a German doppelbock. Strong and intense. Some nutty malt, but then sticky syrupy malts after that. A bit much for me, I prefer the ESB, not just since it’s lighter, but it just tastes better to me. MJ’s comment likening this to a cognac is not far off, it’s a sipper, but not my favorite one from that category.

Bronze coloured ale with small head. Caramel malts, some bitter cherry and some toffee sweetness. Caramel, toffee, some ripe fruits and mainly sweet flavors. Some bitterness at the end. Rich texture and enjoyable Strong Ale.

33cl bottle from Systembolaget. It poured an dark orange colour with a small creamy head. Some carbonation. Aroma is malty with heavy notes of dough, bread, toffee and perhaps some caramel. Flavour is well rounded, smooth and sweet. Notes of roasted malts, hops, alcohol, caramel and hints of syrup. A short aftertaste. A really nice beer.

Appearance: Clear copper/amber, with a short lived ivory head. Aroma: Liquorice, fruit cake/malt loaf, dried fig, biscuity, orange marmalade, slightly spicy, golden syrup, hint of yogurt and slight cognac. Taste: Low/medium sweetness, medium/high bitterness, low/medium sourness, liquorice, treacle and fruit cake. Palate: Medium body with full mouthfeel, smooth texture, medium/high carbonation, quick dry bitter finish with alcohol warmth towards the end. Comments: Lovely, rich and delicious. No glass lace.

Maku on vahvan pähkinäinen, karamellin tukemana.
