COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised bottle. Also available in keg for export only. The very occasional cask version is only available in the UK and has a separate listing.
Goldings hops and Golden Promise malt.
At 8.5% ABV, Golden Pride guarantees a superb range of flavours, that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of palates. Our brewers describe Golden Pride thus: ’ deep amber in appearance, Golden Pride is full bodied, of moderate bitterness, moderately hopped and rich in malt. Full flavoured, and reminiscent of sweet orange oil, toasted grains, and bread. Rich malty aromas lead to a similarly styled palate, with an intense finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are expressed in good balance in this weighty brew.’ Or as the late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, put it: ’the Cognac of beers’.

Beautiful dark amber (almost reddish) with an off wihte head. Sweet aroma of peach, caramel and melon. The alcohol is quit aggresive and warming in a vineous way and there are a lot of malty woody notes, nuts and toffee. The bitterness keeps it from being too much, but nevertheless you should be a couple of guys sharing it.

Look: clear copper with white creamy head. Aroma: toffe, caramel, light spicy hoppy notes. Taste: sweet with spicy hop bitterness. Flavour: candied fruits, dried apricots, candies, some mature alcohol notes. Aftertaste is more dry with some spicy bitterness and metal notes. Very good.

Pours a bubbly clear bronze with nice lingering head buildup. Aromas of caramel, candied fruits (especially orange). Taste is big, fruity, and spicy. Balanced between hefty bitterness and sweetness throughout. Real peppery character comes through in the finish. Alcohol is hidden in the background turning up the volume. Lovely.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2014 I tasted this a few months after "Fullers Past Masters XX Strong Ale" - still the same joy. I’m beginning to feel that English strong ales or strong ales as a whole is worth attention, my attention, it this case after IPAs. Very fruity, sweet, dense (if dense goes under taste tab :) )taste, very aromatic with an exact amount of bitterness. Really enjoyed it. As a bonus comes those rocket earth-sky launching 8.5% degrees :)

0.5L bottle Spirits&Wine, Spice, Riga Beautiful and dangerously delicious brew. A bit more caramel flavor and body/alco - and it would be a barleywine. Gentle hopping level with enought malt sweetness to allow yeast produced fruity esters to shine. Pleasant, sweet, light caramel, candy like aroma with semisweet taste pattern. No long lasting aftertaste, a bit alcohol comes out at the end but mild sweetness and gentle, velvety texture is not suposed to be sipping brew, drinkability level- medium to high. Clear, more ambery than coppery in color, small, beige frothy top. Liked.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2016 Strong ale inglese della Fuller?s.

Tasted 24/08/2008, 500ml bottle from Regionals (in front of Lars and the Real Girl). Pours a cherry-hued rose gold with an off-white airy head. Big aroma of toffee, caramel and dark stewed fruit. Floral esters abound, a pleasant alcohol note lingers in the bacground and the spicy herbal hop aroma is lovely. In the mouth those aromas continue, with this being a very aromatic beer. It’s all wrapped in a luscious malt sweetness and oily ’heirloom orange’ hop flavour that reminds me of old school Old 95 - hints of liquorice and cough medicine too (in the most pleasant way). Alcohol is warming and, with the late hop bite, begs another sip. This beer is really growing on me and the movie was excellent too.

Marstonlad (800) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 23, 2012
UPDATED: APR 5, 2014 Pours reddish amber with a very little head. Aroma features most sweetish dark fruitiness with dried fruity notes, especially raisin. Also berries and maltier elements, such as caramel, bread and toffee, are around. Taste is light sweet, initially very fruity, later maltier. The finish is moderately hoppy, dryish and light bitter - very British. The palate is medium to full bodied, mouthfeel slick and smooth. Alcohol is hidden well. Could offer more in terms of hoppy notes, but still a nice, well balanced winter warmer.

From pint bottle. Pours a mostly clear copper with a thin off-white head and light carbonation. Aromas of raisins, caramel, malt and flowers. Taste starts off with sweet caramel and stewed apple before an orange zest and pepper bitterness washes in. Finishes with raisins and cinnamon. Very decent beer.
