Solid British ale, quite fruity aroma, some similarities with brandy in taste. fantti (1040) - FINLAND - JAN 13, 2013
Maku on vahvan pähkinäinen, karamellin tukemana.
Pours clear, dark amber. Minimal head. Aroma is vinous, a little bit of caramel and alcohol too. Smooth, warming, nice carbonation. Taste is caramel, then herbal biterness. Nice! Mad_Ferret (1028) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 27, 2012
Clear dark amber/copper with a dense yellowed head that doesn’t lace that much.
Big sweet aroma with syrupy bready and marmalade fruity apricot and orange notes. Some salty peppery leather and pointy hops.
Taste is also quite sweet, but just enough to stay elegant. Decently complex with lots of marmalade fruit, bread, caramel, spice, some leather and hops. Big body with soft low carbonation, but still very drinkable.
A very nice beer! espenra (1016) - Kurland, NORWAY - NOV 24, 2010
33cl bottle from Systembolaget. It poured an dark orange colour with a small creamy head. Some carbonation. Aroma is malty with heavy notes of dough, bread, toffee and perhaps some caramel. Flavour is well rounded, smooth and sweet. Notes of roasted malts, hops, alcohol, caramel and hints of syrup. A short aftertaste. A really nice beer.
mauritsio (1013) - FINLAND - DEC 27, 2012

Appearance: Clear copper/amber, with a short lived ivory head.
Aroma: Liquorice, fruit cake/malt loaf, dried fig, biscuity, orange marmalade, slightly spicy, golden syrup, hint of yogurt and slight cognac.
Taste: Low/medium sweetness, medium/high bitterness, low/medium sourness, liquorice, treacle and fruit cake.
Palate: Medium body with full mouthfeel, smooth texture, medium/high carbonation, quick dry bitter finish with alcohol warmth towards the end.
Comments: Lovely, rich and delicious. No glass lace. StoutHead (993) - DENMARK - APR 7, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear copper colour with a shortlived white head. Aroma of malt, hops and spring. Taste is of malt, hops, sugar, caramel and sweet fruits, but has a bitter hoppy aftertaste with lots of alcohol in it. Medium body. zimbo (983) - SCOTLAND - DEC 29, 2012
WIll always conside this a Barley Wine as has been said on the Fuller’s website and as defines so by Michael Jackson.
Forms a very easy head and has a clean intense sparkling orangy glow similar to Remy Martin VSOP. Constant head, nutty nose not unlike honey roasted cashews. Chewy with a good deepish bitter end. Once swallowed the long aftertyaste suggests a warming strong tasblet/caramel quality which is heavy but subtle.
Very fine. ravidesai (979) - Bombay, INDIA - OCT 25, 2002
hazy orange color, fluffy head. malt and fruits in the aroma.
big malty base with a niuce complexity. strong and warming stuff.
Hsad this at Fullers brewery and the guide said that many fullers employees liked to blend the golden pride with the Chiswick bitter. this was a very nice combination indeed.
