500ml Bottle - Copper/red in colour. Hoppy and slightly dusty aroma, with dried fruits, sweet malt and grapefruit noticeable. Hoppy and malty taste, with a rich fruity element featuring raisins, grapefruit, spicy malt and caramel. Warming and nicely balanced. The strength is noticeable, but this is still very easy to drink. Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours a deep amber color with a mediumsized white head, minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma of toffee, honey, fruit candy, dried fruits and some plums. Flavour is fruity and malty sweet with clear toffee and honey notes together with some spicy hops. Medium bitterness in the finish. Mediumbodied on the palate, slightly oily and quite smooth, the carbonation is soft. A nice sipper, maybe not that complex but overall quite tasty and definitely priceworthy. Bottle: Clear brown/red colour, with a nice head. Aroma of dry hops, gras and malts, some caramelly nose in the end. Flavor had a smouth malty mouth feeling, reminds me of a bock beer here, malty, choclate some caramelly and fruitynes in the end. Medium body nice malty finish. Andy99 (15) - ENGLAND - MAR 15, 2002
The strongest English beer I’ve had. Pretty heavy going but bloody good!!... Joeh (2049) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - JUN 19, 2002
UPDATED: JUN 4, 2005 Original Rating: My least favourite Fuller’s beer. Far too strong, and really sweet. (1.2/5)
Rerating: Years on, I have now developed a taste for bigger beers. Prickly on the tongue, some fruit and plenty of malt. It’s doesn’t seem great, but it’s not as bad as I once thought.
Rerating: Tried it again, it’s not great and it has a certain boiled taste, but it’s nice and fruity and easy to drink. Tasty.

2012-11-08, draught at Locus Publicus, Rotterdam, 7-5-6-3-13=34
Clean amber color, creamy head. Some caramel aroma and flavor; very moderate sweetness; ordinary bitterness, a bit of nutty touch. Not as rich as the bottle I remembered.

Beautiful, bright dark amber color, with generous creamy head. The aroma is malty but also simple, with nuts and tones of vegetables. Good body strength, with moderate sweetness; malt and caramel flavor, decent, unfortunately followed by some vegetables and alcohol; it ends with correct bitterness and a hint of nuts, also with alcohol warmth.

Amber color; poor head. Nice malt aroma, strong; wood, cellar. Warming, malty, loads of caramel; very good structure. Powerful. Of course not as much complex as the Vintage Ale, but I liked it…
Dark ale with a fizzy fruity aroma and a strong vineous flavour. Harsh abit on the palate due to hints of fizz, but overall reasonable. JensenTaster (1719) - DENMARK - SEP 3, 2004
(on bottle)Diden´t like the harsh and sweet taste at first, but it soon turned into a perfect winterwarmer. Very sweet sent of fermentet strawberries and a depp, golden brown color. soft, allmost tasteless at first, but then the finish hits you and the drink changes totally. Ver full malty mouth after a long wait of 20 seconds and a real kick of alcohol, makes the tones of wood and cognag really come to the surface. Meditationbeer indeed.
