COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised bottle. Also available in keg for export only. The very occasional cask version is only available in the UK and has a separate listing.
Goldings hops and Golden Promise malt.
At 8.5% ABV, Golden Pride guarantees a superb range of flavours, that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of palates. Our brewers describe Golden Pride thus: ’ deep amber in appearance, Golden Pride is full bodied, of moderate bitterness, moderately hopped and rich in malt. Full flavoured, and reminiscent of sweet orange oil, toasted grains, and bread. Rich malty aromas lead to a similarly styled palate, with an intense finish. Sweet and bitter flavours are expressed in good balance in this weighty brew.’ Or as the late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, put it: ’the Cognac of beers’.

Keg. Dark copper colour, thin creamy head. Intense dryfruiry nose, estery yeast, alcohol, some herbal hop notes. Nice buscuity/caramelly maltiness. Medium sweet, intensly dryfruity taste but not very sweet. Quite alcoholic. Raisiny finish with slightly woody bitterness. Almost full bodied, slightly oily maltiness, some sticky bitterness and alcoholic warmth. Rather nice but too alcoholic.

500 ml bottle, poured into an english pint glass. ABV 8.5% It’s only 4 o’ clock and I hadn’t noticed the alcohol when I grabbed the bottle. Too bored to go downstairs again and pick up a lighter beer, I decided to open it. Deep orange/red colour on the body, two fingers of lightly beige head, with average retention. No lacing left on the glass. Aroma of fruits. Apricots, grapes. Sugars too. Taste follows the aroma, but very sweet. Lots of sugar, malts, the alcohol notable and then lots of fruity notes. Medium on the body, light carbonation. Overall, good ale, but a bit on the sweet side for me.

Solid British ale, quite fruity aroma, some similarities with brandy in taste.

I quite like this ale, it is decidedly strong in alcohol, but actually doesn’t taste to full of alcohol, a definite grown up persons bitter, with a definite bitter aftertaste, so more for the serious bitter lover I feel, it reminds me of the smell of proper old boozers in the north, heavy malty hop smell and flavour, I like!

Bottle, pours a clear caramel color with a thin off white head, sweet caramel malt taste and little bit of fruit with a very light bitter finish, not bad.
