This limited edition brew is a unique collaboration between brewery and beer writer. Melissa Cole brought her vast experience to the tasting table and helped us deliver a stout worth writing home about.

Brewed in the traditional style that became a favourite royal court, this limited edition Imperial Stout has been specially created as a single brew. In a unique addition to the historic recipe, the floral character of the Centennial hops is enhanced by the inclusion of rose buds, lending a hint of Turkish delight flavour to the beer. This Imperial Stout has a rich, dark appearance with strong chocolate and deep cherry notes which lead to a lighter, bitter finish.

07.09.2016, cask @ Amager ølhus. Served in 25 cl lager glass. Pours dark brown with minor tan head. Nose of malts: roasted and chocolate. Taste mostly chocolate with some bitterness, but not much in terms of body. A bit of warmth from alcohol. Relatively dry finish.

Pours black with a small tan head, no lacing. Rather dull aroma for an imperial stout, dominated by roasty and smoky notes with some herbal+fruity notes and cooked bread notes underneath. Taste is strong roasty bitterness upfront followed immediately by strong sweetness. Thick body, medium carbonation, strong alcoholic warmth. It’s a good beer but I’ve had many way better imperials. Disappointing.

Black color with a beige head, medium duration. Aroma has notes of roasted malts, ripe black fruit and wooden hints. Flavor is slightly sweet, good presence of roasted malts, black chocolate and coffe beans. Liquor notes in the final without presence of alcohol that is hidden by roasted malts. Dense and smooth on palate with light sweet hints.

Inky black with slight dark brown around the edges. Minimal bubbles, going away quickly. Aroma is potent - dark fruits, toast, espresso. Lots of fruit. Roses, too. Taste is huge, rich, coffee, chocolate, cherry, raisin. Thick, creamy (borderline syrupy) mouthfeel. No alcohol heat, just some tingles on the finish. Superb.

Sample from a bottle at DØE 2016. Black with a beige head. Aroma and flavour of roasted malt, caramel, coffee, chocolate, dried fruits, cocao and smoke.

Raisins on the nose. Chocolate & coffee flavour. Surprisingly good! Rated by BrewTom

Melko täyteläinen suutuntuma, hiilihappoja vähäisesti, alkoholi on hyvin piilossa. Pehmeä ja nautittava IS, jossa voisi kuitenkin olla jopa hieman enemmän makua/jykevyyttä.

500mL bottle at home. Pours thick and black with lacy tan head. Scents of dried fruits, roasted malts and coffee and slightly boozy. Taste is of dried fruits with caramel and chocolate notes with a bitter, but smooth and floral finish. Overall a very good stout, good body and very well balanced.

Nice aromal beer: chocolate with coffee. Taste is round, full but soft. Aftertaste is lasting. Abv gives a warm stomach-feeling. A gratis stout, score would have been higher if I wasn’t an IPA type.

Flanfl (817) - Lyon, FRANCE - JUL 22, 2016
Black body, medium brown lasting head. Aroma of dried fruits, toasted malt, caramel, cocoa, hoppy floral notes. Flavors of dried fruits, toasted malt, caramel, cocoa, many caramel layers, medium bitter backbone, some chocolate and floral hops. Caramel and cocoa bitter finish. So well balanced, so complex, alcohol is completly hiden. Amazing brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
