COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly bottle conditioned; Special. Has been seen on cask.

This limited edition brew is a unique collaboration between brewery and beer writer. Melissa Cole brought her vast experience to the tasting table and helped us deliver a stout worth writing home about.

Brewed in the traditional style that became a favourite royal court, this limited edition Imperial Stout has been specially created as a single brew. In a unique addition to the historic recipe, the floral character of the Centennial hops is enhanced by the inclusion of rose buds, lending a hint of Turkish delight flavour to the beer. This Imperial Stout has a rich, dark appearance with strong chocolate and deep cherry notes which lead to a lighter, bitter finish.

-short review- Refined aroma and lackluster "sour old coffee" finish. Light palate.

Bottle at home, I think approx two years old. Pours almost black, dark brown head. Nose is very rich and intense, chocolate, roast, liquorice, dried fruits, light cherry - fantastic aroma. Taste is oily and rich, liquorice, roast, chocolate, plenty of warming booze, dries fruits. Not as fantastic as nose but excellent brew. Straightforward in a good way, as many IS these days have loads of extra stuff, barrels etc. I wonder if the booziness would round with longer aging.

Thick coffee head, black color. Smells port wine, quince jam. Full body, perfectly balanced with alcohol on the backend. Tastes roast, bread, smoke. Roasty finish.

Dark brown pour with small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted, malts, coffee, licorice, slight fruitiness and hops. Taste of chocolate, roasted malts, lactose, faint cherry, hops, licorice and coffee. Full bodied, soft carbonation, creamy mouthfeel, slight roasted bitterness on the finish.

Quite simply one of the best beers I’ve ever had. Lower carbonation. Huge chocolate, cherry, some prune notes. A nice bit of sweetness and a great creamy mouthfeel. Put simply, this is one of the best beers - let alone stouts - that you’ll try. If you see it, don’t baulk at the price...BUY IT!

SAMPLE 75 ml at tasting. BB 2024. Hm... smells like a dark Fuller’s Vintage - mighty malty and jammy, molasses and sweet chocolate, interesting spicy clovy and rye bread notes. Good warming alcohol. Excellent.

From a bottle. Served 16°C or so. Nice beige foamy head. Licorice, soy sauce, vanilla in aroma and taste.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2017 Bottle. Pours a dark brown, black with some, latte-colored head. Aroma is plenty of roast, some liquorice, light smoke, earthiness. Taste is very roasted, slight smoke, some liquorice, slightly of the salty kind, some tar/peat, slight coffee. A hint of salty liquorice/tar candy. Full with decent carbonation. While you can feel the strength in the beginning, you quickly forget how strong this actually is. Getting through half a liter on your own is superbly easy.

Pours very dark with light foam. Aroma is raisin, coffee, some chocolate, burned bread, plum, fruits. Taste is barley wine, plums, caramel, some coffee, raisins, sourness. After reveals some burned black bread and coffee. Nice beer!
