This limited edition brew is a unique collaboration between brewery and beer writer. Melissa Cole brought her vast experience to the tasting table and helped us deliver a stout worth writing home about.

Brewed in the traditional style that became a favourite royal court, this limited edition Imperial Stout has been specially created as a single brew. In a unique addition to the historic recipe, the floral character of the Centennial hops is enhanced by the inclusion of rose buds, lending a hint of Turkish delight flavour to the beer. This Imperial Stout has a rich, dark appearance with strong chocolate and deep cherry notes which lead to a lighter, bitter finish.

Opaque deep brown to black. One finger tall creamy beige head. Stays. Aroma: floral & peppery hops, esters, dark malts, some roasted barley. Full-bodied. Smooth mouth feel. Moderately sweet taste. Balanced roast & coffee, dried fruit, hops. No sign of the high alcohol content. Just warming. Nice choice for rating# 3000

@Stordirren 17-11-13: Mycket fin fyllighet och en len munnkänsla. Mycket stora toner av choklad, lakrits och torkad frukt. Mycket fin balans.

500ml Bottle : £8 a bottle @ Waitrose today 12/11/2017 . i bought this stuff this moring, hungover , unsaven for the last three days and wearing a Fulham FC baseball cap backwards-bro ! I went to the store because I was looking for the lastest vintage year hoarding (thanks to member BeerViking for the forum heads up on this being realeased @ Waitrose ) and thought 'fuck it , get some of this too'. Rich nose -chocolate , oil , light roast : A decent sized khaki head above blacker than OBama blackness colour . this is quit an easy sipper , it's swillable and approcable , definitley not the most complex imperial stout i've ever consumed , but flavoursome ,straightfoard and fucken simplified .. Roasty bitter-sweet interaction .floral backdrop from the turkish delight textures . tHIS beer kinda coats your mouth in sweet chocolate aromatic bitterness , like MacBoost's neighbour Latoya's beaver sitting on your face.

2 finger dense white head. Close to pitch black beer.

Aroma is dark chocolate, cherries, prunes, red floral note, slight vanilla, slight toffee and then a note of coffee grounds at the back.

Taste is melted dark chocolate, muscovado sugar, hint of coconut, hint of vanilla, unripe strawberries, black pepper, liquorice root, alcohol, a rather big herbal, earthy note and nutmeg.

Mouthfeel is incredibly smooth, rich and thick. Medium-high bitterness. Perfectly carbonated. A great sugary stickiness and oiliness.

Overall: Some sips are too sweet, boozy and herbal but at the same time it's an really interesting brew. It's really filling, feels like an entire meal, especially with the 500ml bottle. Massive stuff, your palate will take a beating. Total sipper. Very unique Impy, that's for sure, and for that (among other reasons) I have to give it a high rating.

Bottle, 0.50l. Aroma of dried fruit, oak, vanilla, liquor, roasted malt and licorice. Pours pitch black with thin quickly diminishing light brown head. Taste starts with medium sweet licorice, follows by rich roasted malt, coffee and chocolate, mouthfeel is warming alcoholic, while finish is light bitter. Full body, thick texture and average carbonation in palate. Limited edition imperial bastard...

500ml bottle. Pours black, small mocha head. Aroma of roast, chocolate. Taste has a nice plummy, dried dark fruit sweetness to it alongside some pleasant chocolate with roast coming gently up the rear. This really is an excellent Imperial Stout, though seems more of a smooth, chocolatey Imperial Porter to me.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2017 Bottle from the brewery shop. Pours jet black with hardly any head. Aromas of dark choc, liquorice, vinous dark fruits, coffee & plum. Taste is sweet dark malts, dark cherries, plums, dark choc, liquorice, umami, soy. Medium bodied, very soft carb. Dry bitterish, dark choc finish. Very decent indeed

Pours with almost no head. Aroma is dark and roasted, rich. Roasted coffee, nuts, some leather, fermented plum, minty herbality, strongish alcohol note (but very pleasant). Palate starts as dry but spreads as quite oily. Not bad. Taste is like a fainter version of the aroma. Fermented plum has become more noticeable whereas the roast aromas are still there but are more compromised. It's quite sweet, but not overly so. Roastiness and sweetness in a very pleasant combination. A very good presentation of the Imperial Stout style.

the aroma: toast, black chocolate, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar and cocoa... the taste: roasted malt, bitter chocolate, toffee, cocoa, bisquit and molasses... the aftertaste is sweet and rather dry...
